KAEO: John Calipari
Re: KAEO: John Calipari
I bet Bill Clinton is happy. Didn't he come to see one of our games vs AK when Cal was here?
Refuse To Lose!!!
Re: KAEO: John Calipari

Thanks for the memories…

Perhaps off topic but I read a great article this week from the UK head rabbi on Cal's support of the community after the Pittsburgh synagogue attack. He also assisted with the Menorah lighting like a mensch (look it up). Under the radar but not surprising, Proud he is an honorary alum.

Nice, I hope Bruiser goes with him to Arkansas and they tear it up there on the court and on the trails.Scott O wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:27 pmRumor has it, he and Bruiser used to tear it up on Earls Trails back in the day.Plano Minuteman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 9:19 amIt's also about time Coach Cal got into mountain biking if he already hasn't. I heard northwest Arkansas has a world class trail system, thanks to Walton money.

That was an all-time quote last night:

Don’t think Cal’s been on a mountain bike for many years but definitely enjoying the Italian home cooking.Plano Minuteman wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 4:26 pmNice, I hope Bruiser goes with him to Arkansas and they tear it up there on the court and on the trails.Scott O wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:27 pmRumor has it, he and Bruiser used to tear it up on Earls Trails back in the day.Plano Minuteman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 9:19 am

Re: KAEO: John Calipari
Hard to believe Cal has moved on again but not surprised. When Cal looks back at the end, I am sure he will look at his Umass gig as truly lightning in a bottle as who would have expected the impossibility of Umass in a final four, #1 ranking and player and coach of the year. Yes he came close to winning at Memphis and won one at Kentucky but nothing will surpass the Umass experience as players stuck around 4 years and players who did not play for money but the love of the game.
Re: KAEO: John Calipari
Amen to that. And Will "the thrill" was the epitome of a player proud of his jersey. You won't see that again, guaranteed.

Yep. 100%. I think Carl Pierre is probably the last player you’ll see anything close to that, and even he bailed on a last possible year. College hoops has turned into a very sad place. There is absolutely nothing unique about it, including march madness, which kind of sucked if we are being honest.

The 1991-1992 team is probably the best TEAM in UMass history given it had no big time recruits starting as onlly Freshman Lou roe was highly recruited. Went 30-5 that year with McCoy, Brown, Herndon, Barbee and Williams with no one over 6’7 and Herndon playing power forward at 6’3”. Maybe Coach Cals best work as a UMass coach!

I think so for sure.WillHerndonFan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 8:23 pmThe 1991-1992 team is probably the best TEAM in UMass history given it had no big time recruits starting as onlly Freshman Lou roe was highly recruited. I know Cal has been gone for 25 years, but I wonder what Cal thinks about the current state of Umass basketball? I am sure he checks in now and then.
Re: KAEO: John Calipari
Easily my favorite UMass team of them all. And I've told Harper that! If you look "HEART" up on the dictionary, you'll see a picture of this team!WillHerndonFan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 8:23 pmThe 1991-1992 team is probably the best TEAM in UMass history given it had no big time recruits starting as onlly Freshman Lou roe was highly recruited. Man looking back, that team was loaded. Loved the brown to Herndon alley oops. This was my first year of me becoming a huge umass hoops fan with both my parents being alums. I was eleven years old at the time.LS71 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 3:23 pmEasily my favorite UMass team of them all. And I've told Harper that! That team was super fun to watch. A bunch of overachieving type kids looking to make a name for themselves & UMass. That team was what college hoops should be
