I do agree with you about Bamford. What other AD in the country at the D1 level has hired and fired as many football and basketball coaches as him and still has a job.
Re: KAEO: John Calipari
Hey Insider we finally agree on something ! Bamford has to go ! I don't like his leadership which is the stem of many of my comments over the last week.
Like I have been saying, why hasn't another school scooped him up if he is so good. plus he is young and upcoming, like we were sold on him.

He has also fired some long time UMass alum, who by all accounts did a good job, within the department. Overall moral of the athletic department has declined since he arrived.

5 year deal to become the next head coach of Arkansas, wow, did not see that coming. A lot less stressful than Kentucky.

It will be interesting how many of his recruits follow him to Arkansas.
I do think the pressure at UK was probably making the job not enjoyable.
It seems like he has not adapted with the times. Still recruiting top level freshmen, but not tapping the transfer portlal to add talented experienced players.
Who now takes over at UK ?

He won it all there. Things got stale…he needed a new challenge.

Wow! That came totally out of the blue. I think that's a great move. Way less pressure and stress, but still plenty of resources to become a power. Good for him, we're obviously all rooting for him to succeed. Does UMass have any history with the Arkansas program? Hmm...?
Re: KAEO: John Calipari
I'm going to guess that this was very mutual. Wouldn't be surprised if the AD told him to look for other jobs. The reasoning about his close relationship with a booster at Arkansas doesn't really add up for me. He had unlimited resources at Kentucky, not sure what a close relationship with a booster is going to change. He also had the fedex money at Memphis and that didn't keep him there either.

I honestly think Cal should just go do TV.. he would be fantastic at it.
Re: KAEO: John Calipari
Totally agree. He's been fantastic as a college coach, won everywhere he's been. Made tons of cash. He's a great personality, well spoken and a colorful guy. He'd be fantastic, but if he still has the drive to coach, all the best to him. Love watching his teams and seeing all he does for his guysTheInsider wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:58 am I honestly think Cal should just go do TV.. he would be fantastic at it.

It's about time he got out of the blue. What a jaded fan base they are, I remember going to some of the 1996 tourney games in Dallas (UK v Utah) wearing my UMass gear and what a bunch of dickheads a few of the UK fans were.
It's also about time Coach Cal got into mountain biking if he already hasn't. I heard northwest Arkansas has a world class trail system, thanks to Walton money.

Northwest Arkansas is a beautiful place... I have some family there and visited for a wedding. Definitely a nice area.

I cannot believe the vitriol for Cal on X. Not everyone here loved him, but it was a very small minority. Most of us loved him and still due because of what he did for the program and for his continuing support of UMass. I hope he wins a natty at Arkansas.
