Re: KAEO: Sawyer Mayhugh
- Thanks for your opinion on Majok. I agree that he is very active on defense, I just wonder if he can play at a D1 level right now without fouling, and I'm not sure what he's going to bring offensively.TheOFFSeason wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 8:51 pm Majok will play and contribute…he’s active defensively
Sanford is in a boot but it should be coming off this week
Cohen has some adjusting to do
- Not great news about Hankins-Sanford either. I hope the boot is a precaution and it's nothing too serious. I think he could be a major player on this team if healthy.
- I agree on Cohen, although the word on him is that even though he looks bad, the ball goes in the hoop. I don't think he's much of a defensive presence, so maybe that's the adjusting you're referring to.

^^ The team or UMass?
For a school/program that wants more support for athletics, they are pretty silent about any news with their teams

Maybe it’s part of the interview process…..”Will you do everything in your power to not promote your program to the public by not sharing any information, including, but not limited to, roster changes, injuries, depth charts, etc?”
Name a UM coach who doesn’t follow that perceived edict

Does anyone have access to the UMass Student Directory? Is Mayhugh still listed?

I don't, but we're starting to get into the preseason events pretty soon. Mullins Madness is on the 19th and the exhibition is on the 25th. I don't know why this athletics dept operates under cloak and dagger, but we'll find out soon enough.
Re: KAEO: Sawyer Mayhugh
They've been promoting the Madness event for the 19th, but yes on the exhibition, they haven't said a damn thing about it. It's still not even on our Schedule page.Juice Stand wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 5:59 am I don't, but we're starting to get into the preseason events pretty soon. Back to Sawyer... a few practice pictures were posted today and I didn't spot Sawyer in any of them. That said, he's still on the roster.
And in the disappointed but not surprised category, none of the three reporters I tagged last week answered me.

Re: KAEO: Sawyer Mayhugh
If Sawyer is gone, can we replace him with a transfer for Spring semester? Can juco transfer mid season?
We are going to have to play 3 guard lineup this season without more depth.

Re: KAEO: Sawyer Mayhugh
^ My vote is for Cohen, Hankins-Sanford, Cross and 2 guards (no idea who yet) as the starters. Then, hope that Majok and Foster can give us some help at the 4 and 5. Davis is tall enough to play the 3 and Cross can give us some minutes at the 4 if needed. We have enough guards to handle the 1 & 2 spots.
An injury to any of our top 3 bigs will hurt us a lot. I wish we had 1 more big as a depth piece.

Pure insanity that we cannot get any sort of media confirmation on this.
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades
Re: KAEO: Sawyer Mayhugh
I wonder if Sawyer is mad that we added Majok? I wouldn't think so, as Wildens was likely still here when he signed.
If he's gone, I hope we get get someone to fill the gap here.
Is there another Greg Jones out there?

Re: KAEO: Sawyer Mayhugh
If Sawyer left because we added a guy that's a long term project, then that shows a serious lack of competitive spirit and we're better off without somebody so thin skinned. My guess is that he couldn't take Frank's hard-ass style and decided to check out early, which is also fine. Frank's not for everybody, so if he didn't think it was a good fit then he should go find a friendlier atmosphere. That's purely speculation though. I'm hoping one of the student reporters, Howard Herman, or the new guy at the Gazette will get some answers as things start to ramp up over the next few weeks.
