Floyd, I'm flattered. And I thought my best post was giving out information on where to buy hot honey.

I agree with both of you.Floyd wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 6:23 pmYour best post ever Juice. Same here. Havent enjoyed watching a UMass team like this in a long time. Total confidence we'll get thereJuice Stand wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 6:04 pm Right now, I'm having a blast watching Matt Cross and Josh Cohen, the unbelievably pleasant surprise that is Jayden Ndjigue, the development of Rahsool and Keon, and the exciting athleticism from DHS and Curry. And having an adult in charge of this program gives me optimism for the future, regardless of who decides to return or leave.
I wouldn’t say I’ve given this a lot of thought, but as the lead vs Bona dwindled, the thought definitely occurred to me.

Re: 2023-24 Season
All of this so far this year feels a lot better than the last bunch of years, and this team is in a position to make a big jump over the next few weeks. For the first time in FOREVER, they seem to be coming together during conference play. ...or at least not falling apart as conference play rolls, if you're more of a half-empty kinda person.
6 more to go... Another chance to gain road confidence vs a lowly LaSalle, and then a big mid-week game with VCU at home... VCU should be ripe for the picking with our home advantage, but tough none-the-less.
Beyond that, no gimmies but certainly winnable games ahead:
Bonnies
@GW
@Davidson
Fordham

Re: 2023-24 Season
Per KenPom Umass is going to be favored in 5 of the last 6.
Davidson is a loss most likely, and we historically do not play VCU and Bonnies very well.
If you handed me 3-3 right now I would take it, but I feel like if they can beat VCU - they go 5-1 and I will eat all the crow served as they far exceeded anything I thought they would do.

Re: 2023-24 Season
Looking at the remaining schedule, UMass seems to have the easier path remaining for all of the top 5 teams.
The UMass schedule was front loaded with the top of the conference and I think positions them well, certainly better than the rest, to make a strong run and finish to the conference schedule.
No predictions on the outcome, just lots of reasons to be optimistic.

I do not agree on Davidson. They are not that good this year.eldonabe wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 11:08 am Per KenPom Umass is going to be favored in 5 of the last 6.

I have tickets for the game for myself, my wife and daughter, Isenburg grad and will be sitting about 6/7 rows behind the UMass bench with my UMass gear on.

Oof. So even before Richmond, if someone gave you 3-4 you'd take it? I think we want to punk the Bonnies back at home in a revenge game. VCU at home is a toss up for me. Especially if we can beat Richmond on the road, and to that point we should beat Davidson on the road. GW has lost 7 in a row starting with the Umass game and none were particularly close including a 10 point home loss to LaSalle and a 21 point home loss to URI. If we truly have turned a corner, we shouldn't have any let down games ala LaSalle and Fordham. I'm hoping for AT LEAST 4-2 and even then I might be slightly disappointed depending on who those 2 losses come to.eldonabe wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 11:08 am Per KenPom Umass is going to be favored in 5 of the last 6.

We kept the foot on the pedal whole game vs Richmond. That is progress.
Refuse To Lose!!!
Re: 2023-24 Season
Nat you can want to do whatever you want to, carrying that out is a different thing. I get it, things are better, we aaallllmost beat them in their barn. But we did not beat them and frankly there is way too much UMass related PTSD to just think they will win because they are at home now and should have won that game.natwam2547 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 2:38 pmOof. Lucy is still in the building and she still has her finger on the football. Lets beat LaSalle first - who they should beat. Then as I said, if they can beat VCU they may be on to something.
Re: 2023-24 Season
Our game against Davidson got a little easier. Skogman is one of their better players. He is one of 3 players on Davidson who are 6'10. His replacement, Logan is averaging 3.1 points and 3.4 boards in A10 play. He does block about 2 shots a game. The other 6'10 player, Reed, averages 14 and 6 in A10 play. Davidson has a tall team. The other 3 starters are 6'4, 6'5 and 6'7.
Out for remainder of season
Skogman (foot) is out for the remainder of Davidson's 2023-24 season, 730 The Game reports.
Impact This is a huge loss for Davidson's basketball team, as Skogman was its leading scorer and rebounder for the 2023-24 season prior to his foot injury. However, he underwent season-ending surgery last week and will no longer be able to participate in the remainder of the aforementioned campaign. Skogman averaged 13.3 points and 4.9 rebounds across his 17 games (all started). During Skogman's absence, Sean Logan has been a regular part of Davidson's starting lineup, which is expected to continue being the case moving forward.

I know I am the king of the what ifs.. but we are 11 pts from being 22-4.. In those 5 games i would say we blew 3 of them (Harvard, Ga Tech, and St Joe, sucked in the first half vs Lasalle, and took a tough loss vs Loyola. In fact, we have played poorly in only one game (at RI), but were without our best player and Rhody shot out of their 3 pt ass. The other game we sucked in the first 8 mins vs a decent Towson team, but that basically was a close one too.

Yes, and I think that is the reason for all the optimism.

Umass is ranked 354th in Kenpom's luck rating. That's out of 362. I'd imagine we'd be dead last if not for the George Mason game.stevemaz wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 8:52 am I know I am the king of the what ifs.. but we are 11 pts from being 22-4..
