The Massachusetts Collective - NIL initiative
Re: The Massachusetts Collective - NIL initiative
^ If I am an AD: "Good Lord, I hope they join a union. Then I hope they strike. Then I can drop the sport." That's what Starbucks did in Seattle.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

God forbid people exercise their constitutional right to collectively bargain.

Re: The Massachusetts Collective - NIL initiative
Regrettably Taft-Hartley pretty much destroyed that quaint notion and it is basically non-existent in many states. But I get what you are saying and broadly and passionately agree with your sentiment. That said, post-Covid workplace culture has brought out the absolutely worst entitlement bullshit imaginable, and the fact that it is expressed in terms of worker/labor rights saddens me to no end. Believe it or not, not everyone creates surplus value or is exploited. Sometimes a paycheck is a paycheck and a scholarship is a scholarship.

A tough NIL competitor, at least until MAC time:
https://www.a10talk.com/2024/03/questio ... offseason/
NIL section snippet: "It was reported this season that Dayton’s roster has a $1 million compensation total among the roster, with DaRon Holmes understandably getting the most at a range of $500,000 to $650,000, but that does leave other players with a good chunk of change as well. Being the only big name team in the city of Dayton has its dividends too, with many players getting advertisement and endorsement deals from car dealerships, restaurants, and other businesses."

Just so we know what is happening at some P5 schools. Congrats to Cal - it looks like he'll be able to pay whatever he wants to attract/keep players. From ESPN.com:
At Arkansas, Calipari will reportedly have the NIL assistance of deep-pocketed boosters, such as Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Tyson Foods chief financial officer John Tyson and the Walton family, which owns Walmart.
