Re: 2022-23 roster
Marty has me very excited about Keon!!!
I've heard so many good things about Luis Jr, too!
Really wondering who the two new players will be. Can't imagine there is a lot of quality left out there for unsigned 2022 freshmen or in the portal but, given that Frank Martin is our new HC, we can't expect that the remaining two slots are unlikely to have an impact. A decommitment could happen somewhere with a player Frank has a relationship with from the past.
Even if he brings in two players that don't make huge individual impact, the impact on depth and ability to practice should be considerable. Maybe also, if a high-end mid-year transfer doesn't materialize, that last scholarship could go to Cairo or the new PWO.
Before we lost Dibaji and Garcia, I thought we could push into the top four in the conference. Right now we have question marks but we also have PT to offer guys like Gianni, Keon, and Reggie that will give them time in the OOC to develop skills, get comfortable in Frank's system, and prepare for conference play. In the long run it could be a good thing.

Re: 2022-23 roster
Perhaps Coach Martin has a surprise (or 2?) up his sleeve to complete next season's roster. Sure hope so!
A recent A10 example that seemed to come in below the radar was the commitment to La Salle by Jorge Sanchez-Ramos, PG that looked good in the NBA Academy and U19 Euro play. Sounds like a good get for La Salle that came in nonstandard recruiting.

So based on the current outlook at 247: https://247sports.com/college/massachus ... l/Commits/
We have 8 newcomers, 6 are 3-Star and 1 is 4-Star. That seems good. Now we just need to get them all on the same page - very much looking forward to what Martin can get out of this bunch.

Re: 2022-23 roster
I think a lot of guys will get time and minutes will be spread around.
Starters:
Fernandes
Weeks
Cross
Kante
Leveque
There's a ton of potential throughout the lineup. I think initially, anyway, Frank leans on experience as guys begin to show they're too valuable to be on the bench.

Re: 2022-23 roster
I’m not sure weeks start just because that really only puts one primary ball handler in the 5 also highly doubt kante startsDanaDingle3 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 12:54 pm I think a lot of guys will get time and minutes will be spread around.

Fernandes
Diggins
Weeks
Cross
Leveque
is what I expect to see early on in the year against better competition, like in the tournament vs. Colorado. Two ball handling guards, multiple threats from 3, and our best big.

Re: 2022-23 roster
This roster is so deep and has so many ways to be deployed I don't think anyone can guess what Frank will do. I do know that if you don't play defense you may not see much playing time.
We can play big, small, fast, half-court or whatever. Maybe it will be matchup driven or maybe Frank will put in who he feels are his 5 best players and let the other team worry about matching up. This is unique for us and I'm really looking forward to this season.

My guess for lineup:
Fernandes
Diggins
Leveque
Kante
Cross
6th: Weeks
7th: Gapare
8th: G Thompson
9th: Woodley
10th K Thompson
That said, i wouldnt be suprised if Dominquez cracks into top 8. I like a 8 man rotation with a sprinkle of a 9th man.

Re: 2022-23 roster
Holy crap - there's a lot of talent and depth on this team.
Re: 2022-23 roster
your guess is as good as any; some logic there as you picked the 4 4-star players and the most experienced. Perhaps Kante and Gapare missing summer work-outs will put them a little behind. TJ or Gapare might be needed for the quicker wing. Maybe Diggins should not start so a solid, somewhat proven PG can come in if needed. Depending on how the schedule plays out, it wouldn't shock me to see Coach Martin hold back a little in the opener, although Towson could require the team's best soon enough.
Re: 2022-23 roster
Wildens and Noah for sure. After that, I have no clue, not even an educated guess. Way to much depth and flexibility to figure out the other 3. Cross is the next closest to being a starter, but will he be at the 3 or the 4?
Re: 2022-23 roster
Brandon Martin (son of Frank) commits to UMass for the upcoming season. On scholarship as a Grad transfer from South Carolina where he had modest numbers but played in pretty much every game. At 6-5, 232 another good depth player with some size and bulk.
Played 31 games last season. 11.5 MIN, 2.4 PTS, 2.5 REB

Re: 2022-23 roster
I've seen a couple of comments such as "We don't have 2 players yet". I also see that the roster does not have Gapare, Kante or Martin yet. Call me paranoid, but can anyone verify if all 13 players are in school.
