Very happy with a 10 point win over Harvard and a 6-3 start to the year. UMASS has potential!!!!

Besides Dibaji being out, Cairo was in street cloths, Preston and Javohn were dressed but didn't play. Of those last three, have any of them already redshirted? If not, are any of them still eligible to red shirt this year? I don't know exactly what the criteria are, but I don't believe Preston has played a minute so far. Cairo has played only very sparingly. Javohn has played more, but not every game.

We sit about 12 rows behind the bench and during that time out McCall was very loud and very reminiscent of TF!

Santos has played 1 minute of 1 game. McCrory has played 27 minutes spread over 3 games. Garcia has played in 6 games.

If I were giving MM advice (which I do all the time from my seat :D ) I'm not sure what I would tell him about minutes for those guys. We have a 4 guard rotation for 3 spots and all four have been extremely productive. Javohn will most likely see a lot of minutes as the year progresses. He can play the 1 or 2 and he has shown that he can handle the load.

Beyond that, whose minutes do you take away to get Cairo, Kolton or Preston into the game? It looks like those 3 will have to wait for a blowout to see more than a couple of minutes in a game.

At the moment the rotation does seem to be jelling. I agree that Preston and Cairo are not likely to see much action. That is why I was wondering if they are eligible whether this might be a good time to consider redshirting one or both. Javohn certainly has a lot to contribute, but if he is injured maybe he would be a candidate to redshirt also?

He has been limping since game 1

If I was giving advice I would tell him to give Fernandes, R. Kelly, CJ Kelly, and Weeks 120 minutes like he did today

Why would you question this? He's been a great piece this year and he wasn't dressed. He plays so damned hard, I wouldn't doubt that he's constantly battling some kind of injury.
I didn’t know he wasn’t dressed. I think you’re confused, I am in the same boat as you. I questioned why he got no PT because I think that he’s been a very solid piece of this team thus far.

Onto our next game, at Northeastern on Tuesday, 7 pm via NESN.

We'll see who is active or not then. We are very distant from what is seen from coaches' or trainers' viewpoints.

So far, the team seems to be gelling, good enough for me.IMO, Harvard is better than their record, so good for UMass.

Recap from the Gazette: https://www.gazettenet.com/Umass-basket ... r-43857086

Pay special attention to that last quote from Noah:
He’s awesome, an awesome guy, an awesome coach,” Fernandes said. “I love him, personally he’s probably my favorite coach I’ve ever had in my entire life. I appreciate him, for giving us this opportunity to even put on this uniform.
That's quite a statement, and exactly the kind of player UMass has been looking for for quite a while. I think we have a few guys that are extremely proud to wear the UMass jersey.

1st game I've missed but my son has been to all of them...he said there was more there today than Penn St which had 3100 and he thought it was the largest crowd of the year. I actually question how they come up with these attendance figures? Do they count students since they get in free? Watching on TV it looked the most full it has been all year. I guess it really doesn't matter but just seemed like more than 2300 to me.

I was there and I also thought is was well over 3,000. I have no answer as to how attendance is calculated.

I think they have a choice of either tickets scanned or tickets sold. Scanned would be less than sold because of no shows plus maybe some of the accounting tricks like those used for football.

You guys are nuts if you think you can look at a crowd and accurately determine how many people are in it
