Around the A-10 (2021-22)

Post by inthescoop » Wed Nov 17, 2021 8:46 pm

A new season is underway..

George Mason is looking real good and may be the surprise of the conference, leading on the road against #20 Maryland right now.

URI beat Boston College today.

It’s going to be a great season for the A-10.

This has been a good game for Mason. Been watching for a bit of the second half here. URI was definitely a good win. Both of these will represent the first losses for those teams.

However...Dayton has now lost 2, including one against UML. VCU has also lost one against Wagner, but thankfully they're up on Vandy at the half.

A-10 teams tonight played vs. Lipscomb (ASUN conference), Delaware and Drexel (both CAA) and lost those 3 games. Also tonight A-10 wins games vs Big 10 (GMU over ranked Maryland team) and ACC (URI over BC). One game still going, VCU up 16 on Vandy (SEC) with about 8 min left. March Madness in November?

D’Shawn Schwartz was easily one of my favorite transfers of the offseason and Kim English seems to be a real deal coach. The question will be how long does he stay at George Mason though.

Legitimate win for the ranked Bonnies today against Clemson.

After they were down by 16 in the first half, as well.

Tough year for the A10 so far. Here are 3 more:
St. Joe's loses a buy game to Monmouth. The epitome of brutality.
Dayton loses a buy game to Austin Peay. The epitome of brutality.
VCU loses a buy game to Chattanooga. The epitome of brutality.

bad loss for A-10 Duquesne: up 3 vs Colorado with 3 seconds left in regulation. Colorado guy drives the lane. 3 Duquesne players converge as he kicks it out for a wide open 3. Colorado wins in OT. Duquesne didn't foul; didn't defend the 3. Really blew it.
Richmond, VCU and Dayton all lost again. Bad A-10 day.

A lot of ups and downs in the A-10 this season.

URI was up 11 at half but fell short at the end and lost to Florida Gulf Coast by 1.

I've seen us blow games in strange ways, but URI just matched us. They are down 1 to FGU with 7 seconds left. URI gets fouled and makes both free throws to go up 1.

They then foul FGU's leading scorer with 3 seconds left and of course he makes both to win the game.
