2024 Recruiting

^ There are loopholes. We gave Gapare NIL money with certain restrictions. The Collective can explain it better than I.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
I liken Venning leaving SBU to Cohen leaving Umass. He's probably getting some $ to jump up a bit in competition.
Re: 2024 Recruiting
This is out of the blue, but if we have roster space I might take a shot. He didn't play much for Arizona State, but he's from New York State and might want to play closer to home. Akil Watson, 6'9. Here's his ASU bio:
6-9 forward with a versatile skill set that allows him to thrive at multiple positions...Equally as effective stretching the floor as he is producing in the post...Stars for Roselle Catholic, the No. 1 team in the nation in the 2022-23 Max Preps Preseason Rankings...Averaged 11.9 points and 6.4 rebounds while adding 20 steals and 17 blocks for a Roselle Catholic team that went 28-2 and won the New Jersey State Championship...Finished the year as the No. 1 team in New Jersey... Consensus four-star prospect among all the major national recruiting services...One of two Top-100 rated prospects by Rivals, who ranked him as teh No. 95 overall and No. 26 small forward prospect in the country...247 Sports ranked him as the No. 114 overall and No. 23 power forward prospect nationally...ESPN slotted him as the No. 5 overall prospect out of New Jersey and No. 26 small forward prospect in the nation...No. 107 overall and No. 21 power forward prospect in the country according to On3.

I wonder if that mysterious NYC kid Frank alluded to a few weeks ago, was Adam Njie... 2024 PG just committed to Iona.
Re: 2024 Recruiting
We offered Reid Ducharme last year after he finished up at Brewster Academy. He ended up at Xavier and never got off the bench. It's hard to know what to think of him but if we have an open spot (let's see if anybody else leaves) I might take a shot. Very highly recruited last year and he's from Milton MA. But we need a center first.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
^. He might have been a highly recruited player out of high school, but since he didn’t play this year in college, probably best if UM goes for Massachusetts players who have proven they can play in college……..like Dion Brown from Monument Mountain (Gt Barrington) who was First Team America East, playing at UMBC….

Re: 2024 Recruiting
Tough to get a read on guys like that. He could be the next Gianni Thompson (MA prospect that transferred from BC to UMass and didn't play at either), or he could be the next Matt Cross or Rahsool Diggins (limited at their P5 stops and blossomed at UMass). When it comes to recruiting, I trust Frank and his staff.

Doesn’t that go against the purpose of this entire site….lol…Juice Stand wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 5:48 pm …When it comes to recruiting, I trust Frank and his staff.
Re: 2024 Recruiting
As I said, only if we had an extra slot after filling our needs. It's a risk/reward situation for the #13 guy on the bench.

No... I merely said that I trust Frank and his staff (as opposed to the recruiting ability of a certain past coaching regime). I didn't tell anyone not to post their opinions or speculate.TruBluMaroon wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 6:13 pmDoesn’t that go against the purpose of this entire site….lol…Juice Stand wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 5:48 pm …When it comes to recruiting, I trust Frank and his staff.

Go hard after Danny Wolf from Yale. 7'0, 250 and has at least 2 years left.

69 always brings the good news. Great find, that would be a nice pickup. Plus he must be wicked smaht

Re: 2024 Recruiting
Maybe Isenberg would interest him. I know the coaching staff monitors the portal so I doubt he slips by them. He pretty much does everything we want. He scores inside, this year he shot 34.5% from 3 (I probably don't want him taking a lot of them), rebounds, blocks shots and his assists and turnovers are about even, which is OK for a big guy.
Re: 2024 Recruiting
Is he in the portal?
