Re: Game 12, 2020-21: at Richmond (2/23)
Considering how this season has transpired, it's shocking to me that, with a win, we would have sole possession of 1st place. I hope everyone is healthy (including the team).

How can we possibly win? They would probably beat us under any conditions, but after a two week layoff and a little practice? Btw, any news on Tre and Noah?

We could start by scoring more points than them. Every time that's happened, we've won.

We can beat Richmond with Tre and Noah. I’m excited, it was a long two weeks.
Re: Game 12, 2020-21: at Richmond (2/23)
The team has usually been giving media access on Monday, so I expect we'll hear more later today.
Yes to ESPN+
If your TV provider gets it, NBC Sports Washington will have it also.

UMass C Tre Mitchell (shoulder) and G Noah Fernandes (wrist) are expected to play tomorrow at Richmond, per Matt McCall.

While anything is possible, the line of UMass +8.5 seems like whoever set the line didn't bother to look at any of the circumstances around this game.
Under normal circumstances UMass would probably be +8.5, but with it's two best players working their way back from injury (maybe even not 100%?), the entire team coming off of a COVID pause, and Dibaji Walker out, no joke, the line should be +15 or higher.
Re: Game 12, 2020-21: at Richmond (2/23)
I feel like this team knows it can be very good, and after last year ended abruptly when they were playing well, I think they are ready to prove they belong near the top. Even with the pause, I can see them coming out strong and playing well. I feel like its a game we can win
Seems like months since we've had a game
Lets get it!

Re: Game 12, 2020-21: at Richmond (2/23)
I think we give them a game, this group isn’t one that will forget to show up for a big game. We might be too rusty to win or keep it too close down the stretch but I’m not writing it off as a loss going in.
Re: Game 12, 2020-21: at Richmond (2/23)
A few facts about Richmond and why this could be a tough game.
1. Same 5 starters for all 17 games. Nobody is this lucky.
2. They don't beat themselves. They cause 5.2 more turnovers a game than they commit. Steals are 8.8 to 5.0 per game.
3. All 5 starters are in double figures so you can't slack off anyone.
Their major weakness is rebounding, down by almost 5 per game.
We will have to play our best game of the year to beat them. It could happen.

While I agree with you that they've been lucky with injuries and such especially during a fluky season, they did lose Sherod for the season with a torn ACL before the year started. So it might be the basketball gods evening things out. Instead of multiple players missing a few games, they lost a key contributor for the year.

This is a tough matchup for us, but I think we'll be up for the challenge. It'll require 40 minutes of being locked in on defense. We saw 17 minutes of that against Davidson, and since that game, we'd been playing more complete games. This'll be a great test for guys like Garcia and RDG III. We need sustained focus. McCall's gonna earn his paycheck tomorrow because he's gotta have a feel for who's locked in, who's sucking wind, and how to find and sustain rhythm. He did that last game.
According to @MLBergman_, McCall's expectations for the last weeks of the season:
"Like I said in my first press conference 4 years ago: I came here to win championships and hang banners like we did in the 90s."
