The interesting aspect of Fordham’s pause is that NYS just changed their rules regarding the number of positive cases it takes to shut down campus. I don’t know if they’ll reverse course but I believe they have the option to now.

I'm feeling paranoid about the way the conference handled our schedule. Why move us up from Wednesday to Tuesday after our long lay-off?

^you have to use this as a tool to galvanize the team. I don’t see the rhyme or reason either but the hell with it. Go out and win a ballgame.

Interesting fact about Richmond - the same 5 guys have started all 17 games. Is there another team in the country that has been this lucky? Oh yeah, they all average double figures, from 16.4 to 11.6.

I don't know who is running the a10 website, but the men's hoop schedule has GW playing Rhody and SBU at the same time.

Edit: Now the question is who to root for in the game that actually is happening, Davidson at SBU. On the one hand, if SBU wins we have a chance to finish first in the conference. On the other hand, if Davidson wins then SBU can't overtake us for the double bye. Since the conference honchos arranged things to practically guarantee that we lose to Richmond, I'll guess I'll go with the safer choice and root for Davidson. If it should go the other way, then I'll just have to root all the harder on Tuesday.

So if UMass wins out and finishes 8-2 in the A10 they are regular season champs. History won't care about the details of how exactly it happened.

But big IF with two brutally tough games to play.

My paranoid self believes the league adjusted the schedule to minimize our chance of winning.

^ It seems the A10 has decided to pit most of the top teams against each other. It didn't happen only to us as I first thought. Here are the remaining games for the top 5 (excluding us, as we all know that we play at Richmond and SLU).

Davidson (6-3) 2 games -- Home to SBU and VCU
Richmond (5-3) 3 games -- Home to UMass, @SLU, home to St. Joes
SLU (4-3) 3 games -- @VCU, home to Richmond and UMass
SBU (9-3) 3 games -- @Davidson, home to GW and Dayton
VCU (9-3) 2 games -- Home to SLU, @Davidson

Our goal is to be in the top 4. Seedings are based on winning %. We are 9 and 11 point underdogs in our games according to ESPN so we might end up at 6-4 (.600). There are too many scenarios to make predictions but if we can win 1 of the 2 we are in great shape.

But why are they making us play on Tuesday instead of Wednesday? And why are they giving Richmond a free victory with St Joe's? Maybe they're just trying to even things out because our 6-2 record is based on beating some crappy teams. That actually makes sense to me.

The league is trying their best to get Richmond into the NCAAs. I caught a little of the GW game yesterday (where they beat URI, furthering the argument that we've only beaten weaker A-10 teams), and the announcer talked about the protocol for return after a pause. I didn't listen closely, but thought he said the first day a team can only practice for half an hour, next day 1 hour, and so forth. So playing this soon after a pause doesn't seem right, particularly when there's no obvious reason to play Tuesday vs. Wednesday (or later). And why @Richmond, who has played most of their games at home already and now gets 2 of their 3 remaining games at home? Richmond has an excellent team, mostly seniors, and would likely win regardless of when/where the game is, but this feels wrong.

Anyone know when the team’s conditioning started again? Maybe they were able to keep this kids in shape using some creative ways.

Though we are disadvantaged by the schedule here, my guess is that the kids are thrilled to be able to play regardless of time, place etc.

What a story it would be if we could win this game. If we do, things get really interesting with respect to post season expectations.

No explanation given, but the SLU game got moved from Saturday to the following Monday. I can't decide if that's good or bad for us.
