Game 31, 2019-20: Rhode Island (3/7)

Post by InnervisionsUMASS » Thu Feb 27, 2020 12:44 pm

Sorry to jump ahead a bit, but this is the last home game. We're hosting a pregame event at McMurphy's starting at 1pm. It's a semi-private UMass Basketball function/event from 1-4 and the doors open to the public at 4pm. The Guitar Dudes will perform from 2-4. The game is at 7 of course, so people are free to stick around until gametime or head out to their normal pre-game stuff at other establishments. Hope some of you can swing by!

I have a Facebook event created for this, so PM me if you are going to join and I can sent that along.

Note: this is what would typically be the "Blarney Blowout" day. Keep that in mind when traveling into and out of Amherst at any time that day.

URI barelyyyy squeezed by Fordham last night. We can win this game, no doubt about it.

Attended IV's event before the infamous VCU game in 2014. Can't make it this year but I CAN give a glowing review of the event. If you've got the time it's a great environment to get lubed up before the game surrounded by great company... Power hour this year?

Hoping we get at least 5k in the stands for this one. This team really deserves to see a good crowd supporting them for the last home game of the year. Send them into the offseason with some belief that the fan base is going to be there in better numbers next year.

^ I expect a large URIne contingent. Hopefully more of the 5K are our fans and not theirs.

Starts the 14th. This game falls when the Blarney would normally be.

I believe when we played URI in 2010 and knocked them out of a chance of being in the NCAA tournament that was also on Blarney's. We won 69-67 and had a huge game from Ricky Harris.

Rhody is getting smoked at home vs Dayton, down 25 with 7 minutes left. Rhody's bubble may have already burst, regardless, according to the First Four Out that's running on CBSSN right now.

I think this is the perfect opportunity to smack URI in the mouth. They got blown out on their home court for their biggest game of the year and can't be feeling good about themselves. We've been playing great over the past few months besides Richmond and Davidson, and we gave URI a tough time at their place last month.

I feel like this could be a game that marks a new era of the rivalry. They've been kicking our ass for awhile, but I think the tide can turn. There was some bad blood in the last meeting, and I'm thinking MM and TB have these kids fired up and expecting to win going into Saturday night.

I'll be there and I'm hoping everyone else on this board who can make it will be there too. Really looking forward to it.

Reminder: pregame gathering at McMurphy's starting at 1pm. We have the place to ourselves from 1-4 with the Guitar Dudes performing from 2-4. Doors open to the public (aka College Kids) at 4pm. Shoot me a PM here (or on Twitter or FB) if you plan to join for some UMass Basketball talk, good people and cold drinks!

I may be in the minority, but I think this game will be a challenge. RI needs a win to get to the 3 seed. That keeps them away from Dayton until the conference final (if both make it that far). A 4 seed gets them Dayton in the semis.

It's senior night and this game has no meaning for us as far as seedings are concerned (8 or 9 is the same). The important game for us is the VCU @ Davidson game. We play the loser no matter what we do on Saturday. Go Davidson!!!

Can MM get them up for this game? The best incentives I can think of are:
1. Ruin URI's faint chances for the NCAA tournament
2. Get to .500 in conference, which hasn't happened since 2014-2015.
