Game 27, 2019-20: at Fordham (2/22)

New York people, is Fordham’s gym near a subway stop? And, if so, how long does it take from central Manhattan? Thanks.

not sure about subway - pretty sure no direct route but it's about 10 miles from Manhattan...since it's in the Bronx you might be able to take the same train you'd take to a Yankee game...but don't take my word on that

A Metro North train, on the Harlem line, will get you the closest. Fordham has a stop.

Fordham's site gives the details and also explains if you want to take a subway line

Mike is correct - your best and quickest bet is to take the Metro North from Grand Central, nicer and quicker ride but more expensive of course.

Having an unlimited pass, I’ll just take the subway. From Midtown Manhattan you can get to Fordham in an hour including subway and walk, using the D line.

Seating chart shows a pretty small gym. For those who know, any particular section to try to sit?

Yes, it's tiny. Try to sit in section 111, behind UM's bench, or across is 105. The "balcony" behind both of those isn't much higher.

UM's ticket office has a limited number of tickets in behind our bench. Worth giving them a call and they can leave them at will call for you.

This has the makings of an ugly game. They don't score much but they play tough D. They rarely get to 60 in league play (twice) and we have to make sure it stays that way, preferably under 55.

I'm worried about this one too. On paper, we should win. But then you see Away and throw the paper out the window.

Would be nice to break both hexes, Fordham and road games. It hurts to see that we've lost 5 straight to the doormat of the conference.

If they're the doormat of the conference we're the area you keep your shoes right next to the door. And yes - losing 5 in a row to Fordham greatly enhances that image.

If we lose this one, it will be the worst loss of the season on paper. GW is better than they were thought to be and they're right next to us in RPI... Fordham is freaking 302nd, right behind Lowell at 301. Road struggles aside, this would be a very disappointing loss.

wicked trap game. They have had our number and actually have blown us off the court or few times. This is a must game. Need to show that Umass basketball is growing and moving out of the bottom 4. Headed up for Hockey Saturday hoping to catch the basketball game as the pregame warm up
Go Umass!!!

Analytics say this is more of a toss-up than I had imagined. KenPom puts our chances of winning at 54%. ESPN almost the same at 52.4%.

Chance to scout Fordham tonight. They're at La Salle at 8 on ESPN+

They had a bit of a spell check fail though when they called it Tom Goal Arena in their release.

In the post game celebration/scrum McCall emphasized the fact that St. Louis was on a long winning streak vs UMass and followed it right up with the fact that Fordham is as well. I think the guys are dialed in and have some good momentum. Need to get over the road hump here. NEED to.
