I don't care if he's sittin' over there in his skippies. Like Swampy used to say, Just Win Baby!

Re: Tony Bergeron
^ I'm pretty sure that's what he wants to do...just win, baby. He just wants to do it with a little flair!

Agreed on all accounts, and I hope Bamford gives Tony every opportunity to return UMass to "regional dominance and national prominence."

Re: Tony Bergeron
I think Tony's defensive game plan on Saturday was terrible.

Excuse me IV this is the Tony Bergeron felatio thread. Please keep all negative comments in the McCall or season specific threads. Thank you.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 9:51 am I think Tony's defensive game plan on Saturday was terrible.
Re: Tony Bergeron
I'll bring over my comment from the Davidson game thread. Nothing's changed in the last 15 minutes.
I love Tony for what he brings, but I have a concern about anointing him the next head coach. He has no college coaching experience and much of what worked for him in high school/prep school doesn't work against D1 athletes. If he is truly running the defense, and we don't really know that, I hope he is learning and will make the proper adjustments.

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone see a little bit of young Cal in Tony personality-wise? He's brash, cocky, a good recruiter, and he won't back down from anybody. He just has that in your face mentality and the connection with the recruits that says "We're here and we're gonna beat your ass". I've noticed it all year, starting with the preseason podcasts and interviews he did, and it was on full display last night vs URI.
Re: Tony Bergeron
Yeah, I was musing along those lines, thinking, maybe he's not cut out to be an assistant.

Re: Tony Bergeron
I made that post before reading everything else regarding the scuffle and the rumors about Toppin. I don't know what's true and what isn't, but I thought what happened last night was hardly a big deal. I don't know if Tony is a good guy or not, just that he brings an edge, and like OffSeason said in another thread, something we haven't had in a while.

Wow. TB has a lot of people fooled here. CT Flyer describes what a lot of people think and know about TB in this Dayton thread:
