Yeah I think Top-4 in conference is a good goal to set. Throwing around comparisons to what Dayton did this year is setting yourself up for failure. They had a historic year.

I completely agree. Excited for the season, if and when it arrives.

So if Weeks and Buggs get their year of eligibility back, we'll have 6 freshmen and 4 sophomores this coming year (and 1 junior and 2 seniors).

That's also assuming Fernandes is eligible. If not, he actually slips into the grouping with the upcoming freshman class.

On another note, how do we not score at least 80 a game this year (just joking, maybe). I give the 6 newcomers 30 points combined. Pierre and Weeks get 20. Give Tre his 18 and we're up to 68. I have to give Dibaji, Preston, Kolton and Buggs 12 between them. That adds to 80. I know that's nuts but I don't think I'm over the top with any of those possibilities.

For purposes of discussion, I've rated new guys with the guys leaving as improving, declining or no overall change. Clearly I'm looking at guys who have played here vs. those who haven't so it's not a fair assessment, and they might not be accurate pairings. Just conjecture... and I'm bored.

Baptiste / Gasperini ↔↑ (slight improvement)
Jackson / McCrory ↑ (improvement)
Clergeot / Garcia ↔↑
East / Fernandes ↔↓ (slight drop)
Diallo / Dominguez ↑
Chatman / DeGray ↑

I would say Garcia over clergot is a big improvement. Fernandes perhaps a wash on East but potentially a slight improvement

So you'd say an improvement up and down the line. I'm sure the coaches would agree. I certainly hope it works out that way.

I don’t really look at roster turnover as one guy in place of another guy unless they are playing the same roles. To me that’s what is important...did a particular role get better? Otherwise you’re just comparing 🍎 to 🍊.

I don’t think saying Garcia > Clergeot really says all that much as it sounds like Garcia is going to have a much bigger role than what Clergeot had. I thought Keon was pretty good in his role but that’s not what Garcia is going to be asked to do I don’t think. I think he’s gonna get 25+ minutes a night from the jump and asked to initiate a lot of offense and play tough on ball defense. Will he be better than what we had last year doing that? Based on what I’ve heard I think so.

I think Gasperini vs Djery is a more apt comparison to make since they will probably have very similar roles. I think Gasperini is better offensively but I have no idea how his defense is. Djery wasn’t a stopper by any means but he was pretty sturdy and made guys work.

No idea how the forward minutes are going to shake out. I like having a couple of new options who seem like they can shoot bit a bit. With DD I think it’s going to come down to if he is strong enough to get minutes. DeGray sounds more game ready but probably not as a good a shooter.

Yep perhaps Dominguez is a slight improvement over samba but he is a better fit offensively samba was a really good rebounder though

Can we make some space for TJ on this list?

Gasperini over Djery is a significant upgrade.

If you haven't heard this, I think it's worth a listen. An in-depth interview with Lucius Jordan. We don't normally hear much from him or about him.
