Jrdupe, you're absolutely right. I love Sean East as much as anyone and he does some great things out there. But as the floor leader, its on him to run things and settle things down when it dictates. Not saying don't keep your foot on the gas at the end of games, but tightening up ball security is key. I think he gets that, he may be just trying to make the big play to seal the win. I like the confidence tho, and moving forward I have no doubt he's smart enough to learn to pick those spots

Kinda surprised there's so little post game chatter. Nice to see them get the win and close out a close game, even when they went 3 (I think it was 3..) straight possessions without a bucket in the last minute or so.

as he should have been! I really like Sean but you have to be smarter with the ball. Earlier in the season he took really good care of the ball...I think through the first 3-4 games he had like a 5-1 assist to turnover ratio...the past 10 it's more like 1-1 and last night was minus 1. I don't want to just give him the, well he's a Freshman excuse...some of these passes he's making in the back court are really careless and kept Lasalle in the game.

I hate to sound like I'm trashing him because I really like his game, and I think he does a lot more good than he does bad...I just wish he'd be a little more careful with the ball...and it's obvious McCall wishes this as well.
He sometimes has ideas for spectacular passes that are ill advised. Sometimes they go to a wide open shooter. Sometimes they go into the hands of an opponent or a surprised fan in the 3rd row. But I agree that he's fun to watch and has great talent. That little floater is a beautiful thing to see.

First of all its great to get an A10 win and we never let them get back into the game. The one thing I didn't like is that CP was on fire and in MM offense he just stands in the corner. Coach says we need to run more plays for him but then it doesn't happen.

Not hardly. They run plays for him. They ran a really complex motion on an in-bounds from under the basket that resulted in a critical three point make. Then they ran it again, but somehow the ball got thrown away. He was open, however.

A few random thoughts.

Maybe the quote of the year from MM. "The assistant coaches tell Samba they want him to be Dennis Rodman, without all of the other stuff that comes with it." Samba probably has no idea who Dennis Rodman is.

MM was screaming at them about "time and score" and Keon took 2 ill-advised 3s with 15-20 seconds left of the shot clock. Sean also went to the basket early in the shot clock but I didn't mind that one as much because he had a pretty open lane and usually makes that one. We missed all 3 shots but fortunately, LaSalle couldn't buy a bucket. Our D tightened up and the only basket LaSalle scored in the last 4 1/2 minutes was a meaningless layup with 21 seconds left.

Djery is very frustrating. He could have scored in double figures against a small LaSalle team if he had any offensive skills. The 2 shots he missed were horrible. However, he does provide an intimidating presence under the hoop.

The team deserves more than 1,894 fans.

I'm pleased with the win, and although it didn't look great down the stretch, these guys are figuring out how to put a win together. I'll give them credit for making their free throws down the stretch, maintaining that two+ possession lead, and not giving LaSalle a chance to tie or take the lead. That's not easy, and I was glad to see it. Baby steps.

I enjoyed the game immensely. I do believe, however, that they were more successful last night than against Yale, Akron, and SC not because they did anything better but because LaSalle is not as good a team as those other three.

Not sure about the Rodman thing, but I’d like to see the PA announcer play this everytime Samba takes the court:

“ [CP] has earned the nickname Mr. UMass from his teammates.”

Perfect. Just perfect. Pierre really IS UMass. 4 year guy right there. He could be a legend when he’s finished.

There's fine line between keeping his foot on the gas and using the clock. To me it's a matter of his gaining experience.

In addition, guys need to pay closer attention when he has the ball. No look passes look sloppy when the guy who's supposed to receive the ball is the one who isn't looking.

I agree except when they get the clock below 8 or so they generally don't get off good shots IMO.

That's a good point. Some of those turnovers bounced right off guys' hands.
