The press is embarrassingly bad.

I guess the silver lining is that Chatman is back.

Blowout. There's a lot to work on.

I agree with this in the sense that it's a blowout, so he gets to play a lot of no-pressure minutes and get himself comfortable. He wasn't ready for UVA and St Johns last weekend, but I expect him to be at 100% comfort and game speed from here forward.

It'll be interesting to see how they react to losing, and how they stay together. Progress, even a little bit each game and play tough

Yuck, put that one in the rearview mirror and move on. Almost no positives to take away other than TJ and Sy. Tre wasn't a factor, Carl was cold, Samba was nowhere to be found, and East continues to turn it over against better competition. The next contest against South Carolina will be very interesting - I think Frank Martin is a tremendous coach and they will give our guys some problems.

But no mention of Carl Pierre being a no show yet again? Also, teams rip and slap the ball out of Mitchell’s hands with ease as well. As usual, UMass is less aggressive than the opponent - that has to fall on the coaching at this point.

Edit: ball easily slapped out of Mitchell’s hands twice in 2 minutes this half already. Pierre missing all his shots this half as well. No tempo, no adjustments at halftime. This is really bad.
I agree with a lot of this. Rutgers simply played harder and with more intensity.

This one was a bit depressing. We got punched in the face and didn't react very well, we just gave them our lunch money and sat at a different table.

We're young and we're struggling against bigger, better (although not great) teams. Not a surprise and I'm always trying to keep that in mind. Defense was pretty bad today (and the press like some have pointed out isn't very effective when we've been able to use it against the better teams we play) and the offense has struggled since we stepped up in competition. Coaching has been rather meh as of late -- not many adjustments (especially defensively) and unable to execute on offense (our A-TO ratios were outstanding those first five games and dreadful these last three).

I think we played well for about 15 minutes in the UVA game (and played hard the whole way through). I think we played well for a total of about 15 minutes in the St. John's game and then got worn down. Today I think we played well for about 10 minutes and then just shrunk when it got tough.

We're young, though. This is gonna happen. We've beaten the teams we should have beaten and lost to the teams we should have lost to. Today's game happened to be our worst of the year so I'm going to try and not overreact.

It would be nice moving forward if we didn't allow struggles on the offensive end affect the defensive end. Have I mentioned that we're young yet?

McCall just talking about correcting the offense in the postgame radio show. Did he not watch on the defensive end? Come on man.

I did not see the last 2 games but in previous games I did not see the benefit of the press. Far too many easy baskets.

I was there. I have NEVER seen as many two-on-one or one-on-none layups and dunks against a UMass squad as today. The press really sucks. All it accomplishes is getting our guys exhausted. We cannot continue to do that when we are playing a big boy basketball opponent.

The only positive is that I can add The RAC to my list of barns wher I have seen us play.

I feel like the press needs to be situational and based on scouting. Can we run 40 mins of press against Maine?? Probably.. Dayton?? Not unless we want to give up a hundy. There are times we can use it, but we can also token press and pick up the pressure at half court. I would like us to spend more energy in half court D and rebounding.
