Anything and everything that is UMass Minutemen Basketball.
Tough to press back to back days for 40 minutes and not have it effect your legs which effects almost everything (certainly legs on shooting, and defense.) Even harder to do for 3-4days in the A10 tourney.
Hire Matt McCall!
Agree about Tre on offense -- he's so skilled. It also seems like he has at least one three pointer that goes halfway down before falling out. He's got the complete bag on offense though. He just needs to get stronger and stronger with the ball on offense -- he had a boatload of turnovers against St. John's when they doubled him...could have been a fatigue thing as well. Posting up he will get better at getting and holding position. I also wouldn't mind seeing him get more face-up opportunities from 15 feet or so -- might help him see where the double teams are coming from and would allow him to back down his guy. Then on defense, he's never going to be the most fleet afoot, but if he can get even a little bit better it will help.

Playin' in the driveway with his dad could do it? He doesn't shy from contact.

Disappointing loss. Definitely a winnable game. But this L doesn't have an effect on the rest of the season in a negative way, so I'm not going to dwell on it too much. Hope they respond positively from this and continue to grow in their next 6 non-con games. Was not that impressed with SJU. I'd be surprised if they finished better than 8th/9th in the Big East. Hoping Pierre can find his shot. If he's hitting his shot with Weeks and Mitchell continues to develop down low, they will be a real tough team to defend. Sy's still rusty. These 2 games were tough spots for him to get his feet wet. He'll be fine and carve out his role.
I agree that it took it's toll. We only played 7 guys and 8 guys in the 2 games. I'm sure MM was looking for offense so Djery only played 4 minutes a game. If you want to press for 40 minutes back to back you need 9 or 10 guys. I'm still optimistic for the season, but a little more cautious than I was before the weekend.
Was at the game and agree about the press. St. John’s had it figured out and made the right pass every time to lead to an odd man break and attacked the rim for easy buckets. The game was still winnable but no adjustments were made during that run midway through the half. McCall also stuck with a rusty Sy for way too long during that run. Hate to knock Sy on his return but is looked like he was pressing to make up for a bad play and would make another bad one instead. Badly missed 3’s, travels, missed layups all during that St. John’s run.
Lot of really interesting analysis. Thanks for posting.

Hopefully coach learned something from the game.
I thought Tre played really well on Saturday but Sunday was a much different story - he had an astounding 8 turnovers. I'm not sure I can recall anyone, but particularly a 5, turning the ball over that many times in a single game.
He definitely has to work on not getting stripped from a doubling defender. He's had at least one of those happen every game so far. It's about the only thing I've seen him not do exceptionally well for his years. Just be a little stronger with the ball after he receives the initial pass in the post.
He was a bit self critical in his news conference.

TJ Weeks is a big time player. Confident and talented.
I hear that. He's already putting on a show regularly. I wonder how good he will become.
