Only way I could see us sniffing NIT this year based on schedule was for us to have a 5-0 start. Schedule gets really tough after that. (Trying not to get my expectations too high too fast, this is a freshman dominated team). NIT would be an amazing result and way above my central expectation of about 15 wins so hope we keep cleaning up the “easy” opponents and give ourselves a chance.

I wouldn't call Northeastern easy, but you're right, need to win the winnable games.

Yeah, it's easy to want to drink the Kool Aid potential of this team, but let's temper expectations. The goal this year: learn what it takes to win consistently. Next year: some form of post-season.

Definitely scary to use the phrase should be comfortable with a team full of freshmen. However, this should be a comfortable win. This is the worst team we have played to date, probably a notch below Lowell - which was a comfortable win. It should be comfortable. I hope the team is not expecting it to be.

CC get demolished by AZ State tonight. Lost by 40 with no player scoring in double figures, and the team shooting under 30% from the field. they average 20 turnovers a game, so i fully expect us to press every chance we get

CCSU is so bush league they don't even have a write up or box score on their web site. ASU has it:

We need a double-digit win here.

They should be up by double-digits at the half, especially if Sy is back.

Big win in front of a good crowd (4800) pumps up the team. UMass 87-52

I hope so. First two crowds were 2,500 and 2,100 if I recall. Quite small, even for midweek games.

First game of the year for me, first game of his life for the kiddo. Still haunted by when they throttled us in the 2010/11 season. Granted we've already avenged that loss but still... Hoping for a strong effort from start to finish and maybe we can get Sy back for this one too. Good game to get his feet wet.

^ A friend and I drove down to New Britain to see the game. I still have nightmares. We had a pretty good team (8-4 going into the game), including Vinson, Gurley, Farrell, Sampson Carter, Sean Carter, Freddie, Put and Jessie Morgan was eligible and played in his first game. Here's what happened:
Jan. 3, 2011
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Central Connecticut raced out to 33-9 in the first nine minutes and never looked back as the Blue Devils beat the Minutemen (8-5 overall) 92-63 at Detrick Gym on Monday night.
I want to see a 20+ point lead with 5 minutes to go so that MM can empty the bench early.

If we do get a big lead, I think we will be able to learn a bit about the staff's intentions for CJ Jackson. If he doesn't play and they are up big, I think they would probably be hoping to redshirt him.

Also, I always think of Keith Closs when I think of CCSU.

That's about all I've got for this one.

That's a Derek Kellogg coached team in a nutshell. A team loaded with that much talent should never get blown out by freakin' CCSU. Worst game coach ever.

I've seen 1 early line and it was 18.5. The game isn't even listed on many of the on-line sites.
