When Djery hit that 10 ft baseline jumper I knew it was going to be a good season.

In my row, season tickets have been sold but the people aren't showing up. When renewing mine I asked if I could move mine (3 seats) down 5 seats and they said there was only 1 open seat left in my row.

What a difference a year makes. This team takes care of business like a team of seniors that is tournament tested. Made today look like a scrimmage with consistent execution and hard play. Very connected team. Sorry for Buggs I hope it’s a case of looks worse than it it is! The UNDEFEATED UMASS MINUTEMEN!

great to win easily, although CCSU has to be one of the worst teams in D1, and on top of that they just came back from Arizona Friday and had to play at 1 PM.

Seeing Buggs hurt hurt us all. His enthusiasm and joy for the game are contagious. Hope it's not as bad as it looked. The support for him was excellent though. I think coach went with him to the locker room (helped that the game was in hand, but still), and when he returned the team and fan support were outstanding.

Samba was wonderful. Last year he shot 43%, with 23% on 3s and 47% on FTs. This year 58%, 40% and 83%. Remarkable.

Great to see Djery score some.

All 5 starters can shot 3s, drive to the hoop, and hit FTs (only apparent flaw is Tre's FTs, but his stroke looks good and I think he'll be fine there). Only Tre has a negative assist to turnover ratio. So the only 2 statistical knocks are on Tre, but we're thrilled with how well he's played. And with TJ and Djery coming off the bench, it's a very solid group. Surprisingly, the worry now is depth, but there's hope Kolton and Sy fix that before too long. Then again, Santos looks good so far and maybe Walker or Buggs will get in.

Rider will be a challenge like Northeastern but bigger.

Just want to see Umass score more than 40 against them.. 87 this is the kind of game a DK team would have shot 47 3's and won by less than 10 even if they were superior in every way
Exactly.
I thought DK bashing was verboten in these parts.....

CCSU was bad.... hard to take a lot from the game. But there are a lot of little things that are just so much different and better than the previous coaches program showed.

They beat a bad team convincingly as noted above
They have fun TOGTHER in warm ups ... you see them laughing and dancing they are loose and comfortable
They talk to each other on the court and actually encourage each other
They come off the court and get information from the coaches
They hustle to recover when they get beat EVERY time

They will have some serious problems against better competition initially but that is just experience. This group will be really dangerous in 2 years.
In Matt McCall I trust!

Santos impresses every game in limited minutes, Jackson looked good on offense, just needs to get up to speed on D. Recover well John Buggs III.

I thought maybe the plan would be to redshirt CJ but he got some run out there. McCall seemed pretty clear in the postgame that CJ’s offense is ahead of his defense at this point (pretty common I would think) and that’s why Buggs was ahead of him for playing time.

With Buggs’ injury that should open the door for some minutes although things will get further moved around when/if(?) Sy and/or Dibaji are in the fold.

This is my favorite highlight of the game. Didn't bother to translate it, I didn't even listen. Enjoy the bench at the end of the clip. Love this "TEAM".

I know most here have moderate expectations for this year, but I think coach likes his chances to do well this year.

Fantastic game from Clergeot; needs to be recognized.

Also, it looks like CJ Jackson is not redshirting after all and was the odd man out of the rotation. Had a solid box score for only 5 minutes of play.

Scoop, whats the limit for pt in order to redshirt him?

Someone mentioned Santos, and I agree he's played well. He's athletic and quick, and his length and hops sneak up on guys. He's got a good nose for the ball and keeps things alive on the glass. Smooth player

Someone posted elsewhere (and I agree with them) that the idea of a non-medical redshirt is an old way of thinking and foolish to do in this day and age of the immediately eligible grad transfer rule. Why redshirt CJ if it opens the door for him to leave after year 3, and with the probability of losing guys to injury or eligibility issues throughout the year, keep him active now and he'll find his way onto the floor and probably help at some point.

Floyd - I believe that the current rule for hoops is that the year is blown the minute you step on the court other than for a medical. For medical, the limit is 20% of the season.

Edit: I've now read one web site that says 20%, and another that says 30%.

Thanks OC

Hey Juice, I might be getting into that "old" way of thinking  . Seriously tho, if our trajectory continues upward, maybe guys won't want to leave UMass, that's what I hope anyway.
