Portland State got waiver from NCAA for Detroit transfer Lamar Hamrick, source told @Stadium. That brings unofficial tally to:

Approved: 54
Waiting: 58
Denied: 8

Considering the NCAA just denied a kid who transferred from Cleveland St after sitting out an entire year per transfer rules, I can't imagine how Walker could get approved. The other guy would sue the NCAA instantly. In fact, he's probably closely watching what happens with Walker.

Could be totally different situations especially if the walker was asked to transfer

I would really like to see the walker eligible this year, so I hope you're right.

Keep coming back every few hours. With an almost 90% acceptance rate, you would hope Walker has a good chance.

I dunno. It's true we don't have the details of the player who got denied, but it's hard for me to conjure up any scenario which would rule against that kid and favor Walker.

Len, maybe it was the double transfer they didn't like. They are granting 87%.

The kid who got denied had transferred once and was asking for an extra year of eligibility (without the waiver his second transfer would mean he would have to sit out again and lose a year); Walker has never transferred so his waiver ask is just to play immediately, not to play immediately and restore a year of eligibility.

Not defending the decision on the St Johns kid btw, just distinguishing it.

Since the NCAA is all-powerful I don't suppose they they are required to rule on all waiver requests prior to the season opener. It would be nice to know one way or the other.

With the money the NCAA makes from college basketball, they should have staff adequate to investigate and rule on transfer requests. Of course that would cut into profits.

They consistently don't respond in a timely way to these applications, and, agreed, it is a scandal considering the revenues they receive from college basketball. I wonder what the process is and how many staff are assigned to it.

FYI, a second Cleveland State transfer seeking a waiver got denied today, but he was seeking to play at Oakland, which is in the same conference as Cleveland State.

So he was approved to go to Oakland but denied the waiver? Unlike what happened to Tre Davis who was denied by the conference to enroll at UMass.

The player's name is Rashad Williams, and it appears he will be able to play next season. I don't think things are looking good for Dibaji.

Dunn isn't actually asking for an extra year of eligibility, he's asking for immediate eligibility due to the situation at CSU, which would allow him to play 4 seasons in 5 years.

I do agree what Walker's case is a little different from all of the other players who have left CSU...
