This is a notably improved basketball team with Walker. He's a really, really good piece, especially for a young team. His freshman years numbers, which were decent, would be even better if you take away the 4 or 5 games his coach inexplicably played him 3 or fewer minutes and he scored 0 each time. When he got extended minutes, he was often quite good and the jump for freshman to sophomore year is often the most significant anyway. He has length, strength and smarts and knows Bergeron's defensive schemes from having played for him at Woodstock. I honestly think if he's eligible I'd up our team win total by 2 or 2.5. It's not that he'll individually take over games, but he'll be really versatile and can fit in so many different lineups. If Tre is in foul trouble and we need offense he can play a stretch four. if we want to go big and be really physical for stretches, he slots in at the three with Djery at the 5 and Tre at the 4. I expect that if he's eligible he will start at the 3 alongside Keon, Carl, Sy, and Tre with Samba, Sean East, Weeks, and Djery all solid options off the bench. Preston will allow us to comfortably go to 10 without having to rely so heavily on 4 freshman since you'll have six guys with rotational experience at the college level. I just feel like having six guys with real experience is a lot more than five if that makes sense. And given how immediately ready Tre is, that allows the other freshman to get acclimated to the college game without quite as much pressure.
Was DK his coach?

I don't understand this. Tre will be playing center, not PF. That's the precise reason the other big recruit decommitted. Maybe Walker can step in at center, but how is stretch four relevant to Tre being in foul trouble? Also, you seem to be seeing Walker starting ahead of Samba. Do you think he's better than a healthy Samba?

My point is that a guy like Walker, who can play the 3 or the 4 gives you another piece to mix and match with in the front court. Without Walker, your only true front court guys are Sy, Tre, and Djery. Dibaji is a lot like having another Samba (but a better shooter). If we have to slot Sy in at the 5 in a smaller lineup, you can utilize Samba and Dibaji to offset for the lack of a true center. Throw in a PG and any one of Weeks/Santos/Pierre and you can play without a true center. I didn't mean to suggest he'd be a conventional 4 or 5.

You could easily go with a big small. medium? Lineup with Kolton at the 1 CJ Jackson at the 2 samba dibaji and sy 3-5. That's 4 guys at 6-8 and one guy at 6-4

Hell why stop there? Some folks think CJ can play the 1 based off his highlight videos. You could go CJ at the 1, Dibaji at the 2, Sy at the 3, Tre at the 4, Djery at the 5.

Yes I am kidding.

Having a lot of potential options is kind of a win-lose situation. Nice to have options in case Plan A or B don't work, but it needs to be handled properly by the coaching staff so that everyone is on the same page. Otherwise it might turn into chaos.

This series of tweets is interesting regarding the inconsistency of the NCAA in granting waivers. Just cross your fingers and hope.

I hope we hear by the end of the season. NCAA moves at a snail's pace.

My unofficial count of transfer waivers thus far:
- 36 have been approved
- 4 have been denied
- 74 still haven’t been ruled on by the NCAA

Well, this decreases our chances.

St. John's transfer from Cleveland State who sat out all of last year after transferring from St. Francis is denied a waiver. This is pretty sickening. He misses the entire season because he transferred there; his entire team and coach leave, so he is forced to transfer again, and is denied - no mercy. There is no due process to the NCAA and their decisions.

Maybe we can grease the skids here by offering CSU a home and home.... Hell even a 2 for 1 would probably be worth it.
