I was just about to post about this but you beat me to it.

Carmody retired/forced out a few weeks ago. His wife has been sick the past few years so it was assumed he’d be moving on at some point, but the abrupt retirement 3 months after the season ended was strange.

I’d sure HC will be back on the schedule next year. A little disappointing we don’t seem to be playing them this year.

I will put in my 2 cents now. How can anyone try and figure out what kind of season we will have. We got what 7 new players coming in. No matter how good they looked/played in high school/prep schoolwe will have to see how they will work out.

We are going to play in some kind of a tournament in the Caribbean this summer. That will give us an idea of how they will work out Until then I reserve my opinion.

We need spies. Anybody in Amherst that can sneak a peak at the team?

In the past they haven't divulged any stats on overseas games. Hopefully we'll get scores. Didn't they go to the Bahamas last time and play games against like YMCA-pick up teams? Anyway, it will be good experience for the team to play together against an opponent.

A-10 Talk asked for takes on the upcoming season and for UMass someone sent in "Umass will be a top 6 A10 team"

A-10 Talk's take, copied below, gives the conventional wisdom; full article, with paragraphs about several teams is here:
https://www.a10talk.com/a-10-summer-hot-takes/

"UMass fans are excited about their stellar recruiting class, and rightfully so. It includes Tre Mitchell (a consensus top-100 player) Tyrone Weeks Jr (3-stars), and Preston Santos (3-stars). But we’ve seen this before. The Minutemen have had no problem bringing in talent. It’s been the development and coaching of the talent that’s caused problems in Amherst. Even if the young bucks perform well in their first season, there are at least eight other teams with more overall talent and experience than UMass. Top-10? Sure. Top-8? Maybe. Top-6? Now you’re pushing it."

All I have seen is some quick video clips of the team from a twitter link and a team photograph. Looks like everyone but Randall West is fully participating. I won't try to read too much into who is red team and who is white team but it is interesting to see the likely starting backcourt (Pierre and Clergeot) on one side and a possible starting front court on the Red team (Diallo, Chatman and Mitchell). FWIW

In the past we played terrible quality on overseas trips but, as mentioned, at least it is time for them to work on things and get used to playing with one another. Probably more productive than an exhibition against the globetrotters.

If memory serves correctly, we still get a normal exhibition or closed scrimmage against opponent but a second exhibition is lost due to the overseas trip.

We were on a 3-year deal, but that finished with the game last season. So far no indications of another UM/HC game, but let's see what McCall's old friend does to that equation. There are some coaches that don't like to play their friends, but proximity and familiarity make this low hanging fruit. If either one needs another game to fill up the schedule, I suspect they'll be one of the first calls.

Ouch, Rothstein has UMass finishing 12th in the A-10. Hypothetically if we do finish 12th in the A-10, what changes will be made next season? I know, I know, I can't believe I'm already asking this.

I think you should be prepared for the reality of this year not going so hot W-L wise.

Exactly. Everyone forgot about that last year and the disappointment was quite high.
