I thought I was too, but that's not how it turned out.

Honestly that 3-4 yr plan thing is a little concerning. So if the plan was TB coming aboard to be the coach down the line, but ONLY when/if there was success and MM moved on, that tells me that MM/UMass were already looking ahead to moving on. So if he's successful, we've already got a plan in place for a replacement? So I guess he's not here for a sustained period of time with success? If thats the case, just go now and put the guy there that wants to be here. That just wreaks of "as soon as I win and get another offer, I'm gone".

Unless MM figures it out really soon he will be lucky to be leaving for an assistant job at Rollins College.

TB’s dream job is UMass. Just like it was DK’s dream job. Let’s not push him too fast. He needs to learn some about the college game, first, or he will end up with crushed dreams like DK, and we will all be angry and sullen.

Its an odd situation to have an assistant coach that you want to groom for the HC position at your school, if you are the current HC, no? Unless that current HC is looking forward to moving on. Which isn't ideal

^ The odd thing is that TB has made it known for a while that the UMass HC job was his dream job. I can't imagine that MM did not know this when he hired him. Of course, getting Tre and TJ in the bargain may have helped. :)

Which makes one think that being at UMass isn't a long term thing for MM

Hmm, not a bad gig actually. Sunshine State Conference is one of the better D2 conferences; win or lose it is unlikely the fan base would attack your character on message boards; beautiful campus right on Lake Virginia, complete with sun bathing co-eds; good bars in the neighborhood, no state income tax. Nope, head coach of the Tars would be a pretty ok job. Might not exactly pay what UMass does, but...

Married with children guy probably not interested in the sun bathing chickies or the bar scene, and the light paycheck wouldn't be much affected by the state tax. But it would be warmer  8)

I’m not sure the ‘assistant’ basketball coach at Rollins would pay the $875,000 that he’s making now.

There is no grooming going on, nor was this a plan that was ever in place...I apologize if I mislead you. TB took the job with this being his plan, he spoke about this on a preseason podcast. He mentioned it was his dream job and if they can make the team so successful that MM gets a higher offer then he would love to be in position to take over. There is no deal in place that this would happen. What I did say is that when the new assistants were brought in they were told they would all be safe for a minimum of 2, but more likely 3 or 4 years.

It saddens me that McCall is making so much more than Carvel. How can this be?

College Basketball vs College Hockey. You know this.

Oh, one more sleep disrupting memory, more recent than TF. It was letting Jordair Jett score the winning basket last regular season game of the year, giving St Louis 1st place in the conference and knocking us down to 5th.
