Re: 2019-20 season
Aside from the Harvard game and maybe parts of 1 or 2 others, I've loved watching this group. You can see the talent, the all for one attitude, and the never quit mentality of this team. They stick together and keep working, this will be a group we talk about years down the road. Its just getting rollingOld Cage wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 1:15 pm Here's a nice read that should lift a little of the "woe is me" starting to show in the above posts. I have no idea about the writer.

Some notable quotes from McCall:econalum wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 8:03 am Positive Globe take on things.

"I might be the most happy 5-6 coach in the country."
"Our guys want it. They want to learn, they want to be coached."
"I've tinkered, trying to find the right mix. I feel like I kind of found it against Yale. The big thing is the guys who are going to play with the most effort need to be the guys who are going to play."
"As long as we approach every practice the way we approached the two practices leading up to Yale, the results will come. I haven't felt like that since I've been here at UMass."
Re: 2019-20 season
I get the feeling from that article that the coach, team and many/most of us fans have identical feelings about the season so far. Slightly odd notion in coach's statement about how Yale was the right mix of freshman and veterans because if TJ can play you have to play him so the mix has to change. It felt like the mix of Tre and Djery was perfect, although I wonder about Sy and Samba.
Too bad that this week and next, when the team has fewer games and can focus on development, won't have everyone available.

I wish I had MM's optimism after the 3 tidbits in this series of tweets.

Man, I hope TJ gets better soon.

Re: 2019-20 season
Wow...this season appears to be rapidly disintegrating. Chatman gone, buggs out for season, Mitchell still out, still no decision from NCAA on walker, and TJ’s illness/injury sounding worse and more serious by the minute. Might be time to lower the win projection from 13 to 10/11. We may soon look like we did in year 1 of McCall with a dearth of bodies. I’m starting to think this program is cursed.

Re: 2019-20 season
I hope that one tweet about Sy considering quitting isn't true. To get an opportunity for a free education isn't something to take lightly. Tons would love that opportunity to better their lives, but to each his own I guess. Nothing in life is easy that's worth anything

Re: 2019-20 season
Having watched CJ play against Maine I'm feeling pretty good about the team, especially if we get TJ and Kolton back soon. It's all about the conference.
Re: 2019-20 season
I was very wrong in criticizing McCall for filling up the roster with seven freshmen. I really thought it would be better to save a couple of scholarships for next year to balance out the classes. Turned out to be essential that we have a full roster. In particular, I thought it was silly to bring in another wing, and have it be somebody with less than impressive credentials. And then I considered to speculate that this guy, CJ Jackson, wasn't good enough to play. (Maybe because he didn't play even when we went with a seven man rotation.) He certainly looked good enough to contribute on Friday.

Re: 2019-20 season
Can anybody with maybe some first hand knowledge of mcl/acl tears shed any light on how long it takes to fully recover and if you ever fully recover? Just wondering about John Buggs and a possible timeframe when he might be able to start working out and getting back to playing again. Is a year reasonable, or more?

Re: 2019-20 season
I can tell you for watching sports for decades that athletes with this injury are out for about a year and they're not themselves when they come back the following year. Case in point, Samba Diallo. By the way, he supposedly had a "mild" ACL injury (partial tear?). Obviously this is a generalization.
