It happened to us once or twice in the Lowell game, but I didn't see any of those today.
2019-20 season
Re: 2019-20 season
Article on CJ written before last night. I thought they were redshirting him until I saw him in the game for 30 seconds last night. Here's why he hasn't played:
https://dailycollegian.com/2019/11/meet ... for-umass/Jackson has yet to make an appearance for the Minutemen due to a bothersome late-preseason knee injury. He suits up for games and is active to play if needed, but the coaches are taking a cautious approach with him.

Re: 2019-20 season
Makes more sense. I know they have quite the log jam right now so someone's minutes would suffer, but I didn't quite expect it to be him after the way he performed in the VI games. Still will be interesting to see how the rotation shakes out as the season goes along.
Re: 2019-20 season
My "caution light" has gone on. We need to win our next 2 games, and Rider won't be a pushover. That brings us to 5-0. We could possibly lose our next 6 as every game will be harder than any of the first 5. I can live with 2-4 and would be thrilled with 3-3.
Virginia @ Mohegan Sun
Az State or St. John's @ Mohegan
@ Rutgers
South Carolina (in Amherst)
@ Harvard
Yale (in Amherst)
If we could be 7-4 after this stretch with Maine and Akron coming up it's a great OOC performance.

^ Definitely. We will probably be favored in our next 2 games, but very well might be underdogs in those next 6 games you listed (the first four will impact the last 2 vs the Ivies). 9-4 OOC would be terrific but 7-6 is my guess. Under .500 would be disappointing.

According to ESPN right now, here's the likelihood of UMass winning:MJatUM wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 12:36 pm ^ Definitely. Central CT: 88.8%
Rider: 52.2%
Virginia: 8.4%
Rutgers: 12%
South Carolina: 42.9%
Harvard: 14.7%
Yale: 52.2%
Maine: 86.5%
Akron: 18.6%
2 games in the "predicted to win"
3 toss-ups (with 2 being slight favorite)
4 "predicted to lose"
So somewhere between 7-6 and 9-4 seems pretty reasonable.
Re: 2019-20 season
They're underselling the home court advantage we'll have @ Harvard tbh
Re: 2019-20 season
Had no idea Akron was that good. I was counting on that one.

Re: 2019-20 season
I'm feeling more confident than I was 2 weeks ago about our ability to beat Yale at home. They made the tournament but lost a lot of talent and I think our press will hurt them. If Harvard's injury issues persist, that's a winnable game too. Rutgers is good this year and that's a tough game on the road. South Carolina is at home, particularly since they play a few days earlier in SC and will have to travel up here. They also have a big game after ours against Houston.
Re: 2019-20 season
Also - those odds will change as the season progresses. We're still only 3 games in with a freshmen heavy squad, so the book on how things will go hasn't been written yet.
Regardless, I'm still thinking 7-9 wins OOC makes sense. If we get more, awesome. If we get less, sadness.

But 5th out of 6 in a strong basketball conference like the MAC means they will be a very tough out.
Re: 2019-20 season
Just checked the schedule. We have VCU at home this year. That's gonna be a wild game.

Umass has the A10 freshman of the week, 2 weeks in a row. Congrats Sean East.
