and some in Amherst feel as though the Minutemen should be a perennial NCAA tourney team.
I'm not gonna say "should" but sure would say "want."

Two thoughts on the Goodman article:

1. It's just another indicator of the amazing job Schmidt does at Bonaventure. Ranked 11th out of 14 and that team is a consistent winner.
2. UMass is ranked just about right. We should be a consistent top 5 school in this conference. Not a perennial tourney team, but consistently in the top half of the standings. That all starts with getting a top 5 coach. Maybe McCall is that guy, maybe not, and now that he has his guys, a real core that he believes in, the next two seasons will say a lot.
3. Bonus thought. I'm a sucker for these types of rankings. Utterly useless and meaningless, but I love 'em.

I'm not sure I like this statement: Can also get just about anyone who walks and chews gum into school.” – A-10 assistant coach

The ranking of UMass' atmosphere at 11 will change as UMass starts to win again.

Ya I didn't like seeing it either but I can't say it's wrong. We are known to take the partial qualifiers that other schools won't. That being said, it's probably unfair to only stick UMass with that label in the A10, I'm sure it's true at many others too. I will say it seems even if the kids aren't the best academically, they're good kids. Maybe there's stuff that happens that we don't know about, but there hasn't been much in the way of off court scandal these past few years.

The Bonnies were more creative with accepting Welding Certificate program as a degree.

Yes Schmidt is good and interview and did not get the job. Don't think Neal Brown ever got an interview.

UMass has strong services for students with learning problems. It's a good place to come for kids who had some problems with academics in high school. The curriculum is not watered down for them, but they can get tutoring and advising. And the athletes get even more. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. Maybe even something to be proud of.

Agree len. I'd say its a positive whether they need it or not, just the fact that its there to help them.

Also agree LS, it was written to sound derogatory

Wasn't it worded the same way last year?

Yes. I know this because that link points to the article that was written last year.

No, it isn't. But some people might not have seen it last year and were just discussing the wording. Just sounded like a jab at UMass

^ Exactly...this year or last, it read like a jab at UMass.

Regardless of his UMass opinions, I don't really get what Goodman's deal is. Is his brand being a d*ck? Or is he just completely clueless on how to politely interact with others? In the small world of MBB recruiting on twitter, a lot of people seem to hate him and I can see why sometimes. He just has completely asinine and rude comments to people, for seemingly no reason.

Personally I don't care, it's somewhat entertaining. Just curious if anyone else notices this.
