Virgin Islands, August 2019, exhibition trip
Re: Virgin Islands, August 2019, exhibition trip
I know it's not desired by the fans here, but there is value in the team being able to go and compete without a spotlight on them. Freshmen can go out and make a mistake without having to read about it. Coaches can relax about every movement being analyzed, and just coach, say the things that need to be said, but maybe aren't air-brushed clean for the media. I think the team bonding experience (which is what this trip is about) can be better without reporting. TBH, there is not really any value to the reporting in this situation besides giving us small amount of fans something approaching relevant to talk about ad nauseum for a few weeks.
Just a different take on the situation.

I like this take and I agree. Selfishly I’d love to watch a stream, but big picture I think the lack of exposure can’t hurt and could maybe be a net positive.

Most of us are just hoop fans who want to see their UMass Minutemen. Not necessarily a bad thing, but whatever

Floyd, I don't disagree, just trying to find a potential silver lining. I'd love to see how they look too, but I am OK waiting if it helps the players/coaches.
Even as a youth football coach it was nice to sometimes get my kids out of the view of their parents watching practice, because then the kids were only held accountable to me and their peers, not their dad who was a 1 year starter in high school. Once I took a dad aside to explain that, he was a great guy and great parent, but he would criticize every play the kid had at practice on the car ride home. The kid was good and doing his best and dad was only trying to help. The dad wasn't wrong in his criticism, but it was too much, the kid was concerned about the car ride home rather than learning on the practice field. We learn from doing and from messing up. This kid had to listen to my yapping mouth, anything his teammates gave him and dad, it was too much, he didn't need any of our help, he knew when he messed up.

Okay. Buggs gettin a knee scope was the only injury mentioned, right? What about KTM? This matters. He isn't a big factor himself but it matters as to how many big guys we have and how they rotate.
Goood vibes for Kolton on defense, but I don 't think he will be high on depth chart.
My depth chart
C/PF Tre Mitchell backup is Baptiste
PF Sy Chatman backup is Diallo
SF Santos backup is Jackson
SG Pierre backup is Weeks
PG Clergeot backup is East
okay, we have games next week. Is anyone else paying attention?
Let's chat it up.

KTM is recovering from micro-fracture surgery on his knee. MM was not optimistic about him playing anytime soon.DoctorJ wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 7:00 pm Thanks for posting.

I hear you. What is soon. We can do fine without an extra big through the first five but after that it matters.
We need a decent OOC this year. Got to beat either Harvard or Northeastern, maybe Rutgers.

After that type of surgery he certainly won't play this year. I hope he can by next year.

After seeing Samba’s potential last season I would say confidently he’s more than a backup 4 man to Chatman....I could see him getting significant minutes at both the 3 and at the 4....if he can stay healthy he’ll get 25+ minutesDoctorJ wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 7:00 pm Thanks for posting.
