Videos of old games

Post by DoctorJ » Wed Mar 06, 2019 11:32 pm

If anyone has old games please give youtube links.

If you have on vcr or cd I am interested in buying some. What I am looking for are the golden days and even pre-calipari if there are any out there!!!

I have a UMass Games list on youtube with about a dozen games. Would like to add more. Make sure the younger generation knows what it was like here.

If ANYONE has the famous game vs Siena when we came back from the brink, I want to watch that again. Please PM me with your list.

I have some recent games on DVD I can dig out to trade.

There was an account I saw on YouTube that was uploading classic UMass games. Can't remember what their channel name was though.

There are more online now, I think about a dozen of the classic games.

We NEED more. The program deserves to have those days remembered, every goddamn game.

If you have a game that UMass won on video, any year, please post on youtube. It can't hurt recruiting and it will make us old guys happy to remember those golden days. Some of us can use a little blast from the past to get us through the hard times. Please post, please share, GO UMASS!!!

Maybe the athletic department can help too!! HINT, HINT...

I'd love to see some of the games from the 2013-14 season as well.

I'm nowhere near a basketball recruit, and the basketball program wasn't the main priority of my college search. However, UMass being in the Top 25 and in the NCAA tournament when I was looking at schools certainly did not hurt.

Show kids what we were in the 70s with Dr. J, 25 years ago under Cal, The NIT run in 2007-08, and the time under the spotlight of 2013-14.

I heard some people say McCall is just pandering to fans when he brings up the good times. And I get it, we're not a blue blood. Whatever.

McCall needs his own vision, but that history and the idea of UMass being great... I think that's important to sell too.

I love that they show some highlights from over the years prior to tip off at the Mullins Center. It's a nice touch.

^ It's not overly complicated.

You can get one of these little gadgets from Amazon. This one is $10, but I don't know about its quality. https://www.amazon.com/Free-Ship-Deal-V ... 07CNJ1RXF/

You connect the RCA end to your VCR and the USB end into your computer. Load up the software on your PC and record the tape. You can use the VCR to fast-forward through the commercials.

Once it's recorded on the computer you can burn it to a DVD or upload it to YouTube.

IDK if this is the one he used, but my dad did this project a few years ago with our old family videos.

Alternatively, there are some retailers (maybe Costco?) that will do the conversion for you. But they're likely far more expensive than the Amazon route.

You can also use an old mini dv (cassette) camera and FireWire attached to vcr.

I watched the Temple game that caused their coach to blow up at Cal in the postgame. It is on Youtube.

I think there are about ten old games on there now, some were just added recently. I will try to post some links in this thread for us. Please share if you have any!! Still looking for that win against Siena.

The win over UConn in 04 is nowhere to be found on YouTube. We need that up there.

I have a copy of it on VHS. Not the best quality, but I'll see if I can make something happen...
