Game 14 - 2018-19 - La Salle 1/5/19

Post by 69MG » Wed Jan 02, 2019 3:19 pm

Well, let's get started on conference play. First, there is a conflict with the hockey game in Springfield. I have friends who have flexed their BB tickets so they could go to the hockey game. I'm not sure how many have done that, but I'm expecting a pretty small crowd.

I was originally thinking this game would be a cakewalk, but we have all learned that there is no such thing this year. What I didn't realize was that
La Salle had 3 key players out for large portions of the year. They are all back now and La Salle is playing better. At times they were without Powell, Clark and Phiri who combine for 41 points a game.

In another thread, posters have questioned the mindset of the team. I'm curious to see what that looks like now that A10 play is starting. Can they get it together and play the way they are capable of consistently? After La Salle, the schedule ramps up with the next 4 being SLU, Dayton, GMU and VCU.
I would love to see us start out at least 3-2 but that's a tall task.

I'm kind of discouraged right now so I hope the guys surprise me. In a good way.

No Tre Wood in practice for #UMass. He’s still in concussion “protocol.” Seems unlikely to go Saturday but will pass along update as I receive it
Hope Trey is OK and just misses this one game.

I missed two basketball games this season and will likely miss at least two more, so I’ll make my best attempt at going to this game. The hockey game in Springfield is pretty tempting, though. MGM, free parking, and a chance to take over another team’s barn.

Going to miss watching this game. Weather is going to be decent so we are heading to Cherokee for the super bingo and some casino time.

In the past 4 games Umass has come back from a large deficit to beat a good team on the road, blew a sizable lead on the road to a good team, needed a miracle to beat a below average team at home by 1, and got blown out by an average team on the road. If anyone think they have an idea how this game will go, they are lying to themselves.

My wife has been dealing with Shingles for over 1 month and now that she is feeling better she needs to get out of the house.

I have 4 tickets for the game I can't use, sent me an IM with your email address if you want them, you'll just have to print them.

Judging by how they have played to date I will be pleasantly surprised if our guys win by that margin. :o

Defense is the key here. Good defense and turnovers create better opportunities for the team on offense.
