UMass open up as -3.5 point favorites.
That's being way to generous at this point.

It is unfortunate to not get an early season test, however the prospect of realistically going 8-0 to start is nice. (Just basing it off the competition level) If we win this it is realistic to win until Providence. Not saying it will happen I'm sure we will drop a game or two but it would add that air of energy the possibility of going undefeated 30% into the season.

You're aware that if we beat Southern Illinois on Thanksgiving we would turn around and play most likely Nevada, ranked #6 nationally the next day in Las Vegas, right?

Can't make tonight's game due to crappy weather up north...

Anyone want my tickets? They're two tickets, 12th row in section F. Don't need money, just want to make sure my seats have asses in them :)

^Perhaps see if a local Big Brother/Big Sister, YMCA, or the like would take them. Sure there are plenty of kids that would love to go.

PS - agree on SIU. They are very good. They have lost to Kentucky and a ranked and extremely strong Buffalo squad. One game at a time, but we are going to have to play very well to beat them. I was extremely impressed by how their guys hustled and dove for loose balls - despite the loss. They are going to be challenging.

First thing's first, though. . .Harvard's tough enough.

excited for tonight's game. i'd like to see us continue to shoot well from beyond the arc. we shot over 50% against NE, while harvard let NE shoot almost 56% from three last game. hope Pierre has one of those games tonight.

Against UNH we got out to an early lead and the offense came easy. Will our shooters still come through if we fall behind by 8 or 10? We've seen Pip and Carl do it but how will pressure affect the freshmen and the transfers? Believe me, I'm hoping we go up by 10 in the first half but so far there hasn't been much pressure on our shooters to perform in the clutch. Today will be a good test.

I expect that the defense will be much, much more fierce than what UNH came at us with.

That said, looks like their main bigs Baker (6'10 205 pounds) and Welsh (6'10 250 pounds), are all significantly smaller than Holloway. Welsh is the closest in size and has only averaged 11 minutes per game.

I've really enjoyed this series over the past few years, the earliest game I can recall being the late morning game on ESPN (have only been following the team closely since 2012) where I believe Sampson Carter hit the game winning shot. It's going to be a treat to watch this UMass team come together over the course of the season, and tonight should be the first real test.
