Judging a class before it plays a game is pretty stupid. We ALL made that mistake 2 years ago. Apparently we haven't learned.

The stats vs character statement is also annoying. Marcus accepted prostitutes, jewelry and money while he was here. Mack smoked weed daily and was arrested for theft. Major character marks during their times here, yet two of the best to ever wear the uniform and held in very high regard (by me included).

I'm hopeful this is the best class ever. But let the careers, be them completed here or elsewhere, play out. That's all.

This is a pretty damn strong and good point here...Carl Pierre and KTM!

Found a video of one of Sy's playoff games this year. I was impressed with his court awareness and he showed multiple facets to his game in this clip.
We still have 1 spot open and the signing period runs until May 16.

LSU and Clemson may be running out of spots. Clemson has a PG and a C coming in, and LSU is pushing hard for some wing.

Is McCall waiting on a certain player who is waiting on another school which in turn is waiting on another player ad infinitum? 'Cause we have the available scholly, what's holding things up?

I think you nailed it. It can be a chess game sometimes.

Nothing earth-shattering, but it's nice to hear things like this from an unbiased source. He's a writer for SLAM Magazine.

That guy might be a perfectly fine writer or “scout” but hard to take him seriously given his Night at the Roxbury profile photo.

Edit: When I first posted this I forgot what photo I have for my profile photo in here. Now that I remember, I guess I should be the last person to question someone else’s photo.

But mine’s not changing. Long live Mike Schank!

I kind of like the late bloomers, kids that grow into their body frames, and skills start to shine with a coaching staff that knows how to develop them. Realistically athletes shouldn't even reach their peak until late 20's early 30's, so it doesn't really bother me if a kid doesn't have the best highlight videos coming out of high school. Good fundamentals, right attitude, and physical tools should produce good players under a good staff. So far, I like the kids Coach McCall has brought in and looks at

Chatman is #1 and I am really looking forward to seeing him on the court.

This was mentioned in the Lowell game thread, but moving that stream over here and not get it mixed up with the game commentary...

Recap: Sy missed last night's game and McCall very briefly commented about it in the post-game presser. The write-up from Walfish:
CHATMAN OUT INDEFINITELY — The Minutemen were without the services of sophomore forward Sy Chatman due to personal issues. McCall said he wanted to respect the family’s privacy and declined to elaborate, but stated he had no timetable on when Chatman would rejoin the team.
I don't think we can read anything into that. No idea what's going on.

I'm a bit concerned though about his most-recent tweet, which is now 4 days old:
https://twitter.com/Sy_Chatman1/status/ ... 0513073152

Again, can't read anything into it, but I don't like the timing in conjunction with his absence. Hopefully all's well for him and this turns out to be a big nothing.

Think you might be reading too much into it... His mom has been retweeting all the positive UMass stuff since that tweet by Sy. Nothing about the game last night but all the stuff leading up to the game. That tweet could be about a girl for all we know. Everything I heard preseason from the coaching staff was pumping Sy up so I find it hard to imagine they'd go through all that just to pull something on him right before the season starts.
