Yeah, Mason offensive boards killed us today. Otherwise it's ours. Hold your heads up UMass, guys represented the school very well. Feel for CJ, wanted to keep this going for him. Look forward to next year, with a new group that all buy in and play with that intensity

What a bullshit call at the end of the game. The refs just took a game from the players that they played so hard for.
nope...perfect call...total push off...hand in his back and pushed him away....just because it was against umass doesnt make it a crap call. was the right call. great call.....
Along with that, it didn't cost Umass the game as he would have needed to make a 45 footer to tie anyway.

Have 2 very good players Pipkins and Pierre to build around.

Need to get much better rebounding and interior defense. Hopefully recruiting as such.

Welp, hung around but it wasn't good enough today. Too many turnovers, not enough defensive rebounding, and the ft disparity was too great. Still pleased with how they played down the stretch of conference play for the most part, especially compared to earlier in conference play. Helluva year for Pip, lot of promise with Pierre, nice curtain call for CJ.

Will be interesting to see how offseason plays out as there are lots of moving parts still. Then I'll be curious to see how much better the defense and rebounding can get with a more complete roster. McCall clearly is a good coach and has a lot of promise, for me I think seeing him with a full roster and how they defend and rebound will help tell me how good.

Interior defense wasn't that bad. We switched and were positioned very well. We were very undersized. Rebounding is a mentality jot positioning issue. They were there many times and couldn't win the fights for the ball.

The kids who made up the roster late in the season gave it all they had and we're all proud of them. Now, I'm hoping like hell that RH and CB are back next season and am looking forward to the recruits and transfers being eligible; I really like our coach. It could be a hell of a year, next year.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

I'm proud of this team, sorry they couldn't advance any further but the future looks bright. I was away today but I recorded the game. I have only watched the first half so I'll limit my comments.

It seemed to me that we got a bit tired at the end of the first half. A lot of reaching, not a lot of energy going for loose balls or rebounds and some sloppy turnovers. However, I look at one call (not Malik's T) as the turning point in the half. I think we were up 35-25 and LP was driving. He was tripped, no call was made and GM took it down for a layup and foul. That's a 5 point swing on one non-call and he was clearly tripped. GM had all the momentum after that.

I'll force myself to watch the second half, but it's tough knowing how the game ended.

that and the T really turned it. I think McLean also got tripped once with a no-call that led to a transition basket for Mason. It will be interesting to see if Coach McCall learns from the 3 losses to Mason and figures them out next year.

Wow, what a great photo. All young guys around CJ, just shows that they value CJ as a role model and a true leader to the team.

Their interior defense was poor and if you lump preventing offensive rebounds as part of interior defense as I do, it was terrible. Hines and KTM are bigger than anyone GMU has, but yes on the wing/guard UMass is smaller.

The fact of the matter is that UMass has been a poor rebounding team, even when we had Holloway and Baldwin and were using Holloway and Hines on the floor together. I really hope they can add Wyatt Walker, or someone in that vein.

Poor rebounding to me is not the same as interior defense. I agree we rebounded poorly, but we defended well enough most of the time to make first shots difficult on the interior. We got torched by outside shooting a few times. When we lost a rebound the defense broke down, because you are supposed to get the rebounds as a defensive player the majority of the time. Watching Randall West and Unique MCLean shows me that the staff knows how to teach rebounding, but rebounding requires a toughness fight for the ball mentality that hasn't been developed by our bigs.
