Game 1, 2017-18: UMass-Lowell (11/10)

Post by 69MG » Sun Nov 05, 2017 10:09 am

MM says that Rashaan will play but my guess is that he will play limited minutes. I vaguely remember last year's game. They hung with us for a half and we wore them down in the second half. Sounds a little like the Springfield College game.

Their 3 best returning players are all guards (6'1, 6'2 and 6'3). Thomas is by far their best player. He averaged 18 points and 9 rebounds last year and does not shoot 3s. The other two guards, Jones and Harris, both shot around 40% from 3 last year.

They have some length but none of their returning bigs played a major role last year. I would hope that Malik and Chris will control the paint as they did last Friday. The keys are keeping Thomas from driving (seems like a job for Unique) and staying on the other two guards.

Anyone have any other info???

We could win by 20 or lose by 10... no idea.. I think we will beat them up down low and wear them down. I see a game where we are down early then win it in the last 10 minutes.

Who's going? I'll be there, anyone else? Hoping we get a nice comfortable 15-20pt win...

Me + 1. Taking Friday off and we hope to get up to Amherst early enough to catch the women's game as well. Wife has to work part of the day so we shall see.

Me + 3. If you can get there a little early, check out some of the women's game. If what I saw in the exhibition game holds true, they will be fun to watch this year.

I agree that the women’s team is worth watching...good staff and some new players to go with the returnees.

I like having a game beforehand which allows people to come in at a comfortable pace and show support to the ladies.

Bring ear plugs. The music is too loud and it sucks.

I'd bet the Starting 5 are RH, CB, CJ, UM, LP judging by what McCall said in his post game presser. Miller, KTM, Pierre and Hines off the bench.

Me +1, should we get there Thursday night to get in the security line? Or was it addressed already?

Marty nothing to be nervous about - just go in with an open mind, low expectations, and patience for what we all hope is inevitable improvements from Friday night until the beginning of March.....
