.@WAPrepHoops & @ExpressionsEybl big man Chad Venning has added an offer from UMass.
I have read 2 different items that said he was walking on this year. As a walk-on, would he be allowed to play? He played 1 year at CSU and if he sits, he would have 3 years here. I don't think you can play 5 years even if one of them is as a walk-on. Anybody have any knowledge on this?
One of the items was from 247 and mike is usually pretty accurate.
Walker will be a sit one, play three transfer for UMass, and it also appears that he will have to pay his own way and walk-on during his 2019-20 redshirt year as the Minutemen are already at the maximum amount of scholarships allowed by the NCAA.
Don't know if this is 2019 (2nd semester) or 2020, but we just offered a JUCO PG, Malik Zachery. This makes me think that the staff is not thrilled with the PG play so for. We have a few offers out for 2022 and I can understand that, but a JUCO PG is a different story. His connection: Commonwealth Academy in Springfield. I think that's one of the former homes of Mr. Bergeron.
Among his offers are VCU, URI and SBU, All made in 2019.Ocoee Basketball

2020 6’9 forward Alston Andrews (@alston_andrews ) has received an offer from @UMassBasketball
I know, I know, never stop recruiting, but just how many spots are they expecting to open up next year? Given that KTM is no longer on the roster, it looks clear to me they need to replace two bigs, so the offer to Andrews makes sense.

Official roster released on UMassAthletics.com - KTM not on the roster. Appears he is still in the people finder on the school site though so all signs pointing to he is no longer playing due to injury but is still enrolled at UMass. Hopefully he gets his degree and I can't think of any reason the school wouldn't continue to honor his scholarship - IIRC it does not count toward the teams total if he is no longer playing for medical reasons.
If he's on the roster, his scholarship counts for the 13, regardless of whether he plays or not, or whether or not he's physically able to play. As far as the question, "How many scholarships do they expect to have for 2020?" I think the the answer clearly "four." They already have committed two scholarships to McCroy and Walker and they are still recruiting hard for a big man (which should have been their first priority) and a point guard (I guess two aren't enough). In other words, enjoy your last year with Carl Pierre and Keon Clergeot. Minor detail: With KTM off the roster, Walker can now get a scholarship for this season. Maybe that was part of the plan all along.

^ Correct. McCrory uses Djery's scholarship and Walker uses KTM's for next year. That is all we have available for now. For every new signee we get after this it means another player is leaving. I have no clue who that might be, but Len's guess of 2 more is not out of the question. We all hope that Carl is not one of them.
