Saw we offered Kenny Lofton Jr - a 6-6 forward from Houston area. Sounds like he’s a bit of a throwback style player. No idea if he’s the son of former MLB player Kenny Lofton (who played college hoops at ASU) — he doesn’t seem to be in the same sleek speedster mode.
He is not related to Kenny Lofton Sr
He is a bulky player who rebounds very well and has many good inside moves. Plays for Houston Hoops in AAU and improved his status with strong performances in Nike Peach Jam in July. Would be an excellent addition.
I think you mean that he is not related to the former MLB player, Kenny Lofton.
Well, obviously.

Either that, or this was going to be an interesting “He’s not the Father” episode of Maury!

How about his shooting stroke? Does he have a good motor? Any Basketball IQ number in yet? I hope he is a volume scorer.....

The Cairo McCrory kid just committed to us per the Twittersphere.

I know nothing about McCrory, but this kid better be very good as we have potential holes in other spots besides SG. He'll be attending Woodstock, but was not there when Tony was there.

I think if the goal is to have a few guys to roll out as interchangeable parts in the 6-3 to 6-7 range then he helps fit that goal. If the goal is to finally push the pace defensively, then he should help fit that goal. Would make for:

Pierre
Diallo
Weeks
Santos
Jackson
McCrory

as all kids in that size range, allowing you to play 2-3 (occasionally even 4) at a time. While they are all in that size range, they should all bring something a little different as well. Then the two new point guards have good size too. It seems like a decent plan.

McCrory, sounds, you guess it, intriguing. Looks like he's got a pretty good frame on him and I think the year at Woodstock will only help him. Other than that, I don't know much about him.

I do think they will look for another big of some sort (either traditional style or the face up athletic variety) for when another scholarship inevitably opens up.

I'm with you Jackson. I bet one guard leaves and they bring in another athletic 4 in the mold of chatman. Best ad a 4 but can give you minutes at the 5. I'm hoping for Dominguez from woodstock

Here are a few highlight videos of McCrory for folks to determine how good he is, what his ceilings/floors are, to make player comparisons from, to identify his strengths and weaknesses, or to just watch for fun!

Interview from 2018. You can see why McCall would like him--attitude, energy, defense.

I found this on Twitter, c/o "NeverStopRecruiting". While I still think that a big is our #1 priority for 2020, I feel better about McCrory after reading this article. If he has a good year at Woodstock his recruiting would go way up and we might not have gotten him.
