Is the thinking that Clergeot will graduate and then grad transfer? Right now we will only have one scholly to give out otherwise.UMassHoops wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 2:44 pm Cross + Johnson sounds good for next year. Re: 2020 Recruiting
That sounds ideal. Two Mass guys, too. I like homegrown talent, and McCall has talked about making UMass a destination for Mass players. If anything, less travel, more punch for recruiting budget, hypothetically.UMassHoops wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 2:44 pm Cross + Johnson sounds good for next year. Re: 2020 Recruiting
Cross has visited Indiana and will be visiting South Carolina and Miami. No idea how strong his relationship with Bergeron is, but I would bet he’s headed to a P5. Sounds like either IU (interestingly enough I think Bruiser has been his lead recruiter) or South Carolina.
Not sure how much we need another guard/wing, but sounds like Johnson is a shooter which you can never have enough of. He does sound like a Davidson type of player, though, and they have already had him on campus too I think.
Hopefully we don’t have more than a couple of scholarships to give out. If we do it means we will have multiple kids transferring out...again. If KTM left I would get it, but multiple kids leaving again would be a hard sell ...for me at least. I understand kids move around more these days but at some point all this talk about culture has to be more than talk. And at this point the roster is all McCall’s kids.

I thought we had two next year, but I think you are right it's just one unless someone like Keon or KTM graduates early.Slapthefloor93 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 5:28 pmIs the thinking that Clergeot will graduate and then grad transfer? Re: 2020 Recruiting
Keon does not need to graduate early in order to access the graduate transfer, just need to graduate on time.

You don't visit the General Forum much, do you...?

Re: 2020 Recruiting
Yes, we have one as of now. The chances of it staying at 1 are pretty slim based on past history and the general trend of players transferring all across the NCAA. Unless this year is a disaster, there shouldn't be another mass exodus. I suspect one or two might leave, based on playing time.UMassHoops wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 8:02 amI thought we had two next year, but I think you are right it's just one unless someone like Keon or KTM graduates early.Slapthefloor93 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 5:28 pmIs the thinking that Clergeot will graduate and then grad transfer? Re: 2020 Recruiting
Sounds like Woodstock is reloading pretty good under New coach Jacque Rivera. They’ve added wing Cairo McCrory, forward Dyondre Dominguez, a big dude outta NY named Chad Venning, and (I think) big Richie Springs. Not sure if Cross is staying there but either way that group and DeGray is pretty deep. Wonder who will be running point for them.
EDIT: a couple kids named Cam Rowland and Noel Scott might be playing pg for them.
EDIT 2: Cross is headed to Brewster.

It's probably not significant for us as I think Cross is going P5 based on his recent visits. What will be interesting for 2020 is the relationship Bergeron may or may not have with the new coach at Woodstock. There are still players there (and some new ones) that would be good gets for us.The Hustle

6’7” wing Matt Cross (@matthewcross35) will transfer to @BrewsterHoops for his senior season, as Jason Smith looks to make it back-to-back National Championships w/ a lineup featuring Cross, Terrence Clarke, Jamal Mashburn, DeMarr Langford and more.....

Bergeron coached Rivera and it sounds like they have a good relationship:
