I think our biggest difference is that you are willing to read more into situations that you aren’t around than I am. Which is totally cool but I think it explains our differences.

And I think your answer about our second best player in conference play is spot on but if I had to choose just one player I would say Santos.

Remember the days when we would have discussions (heated discussions/arguments) about not going after local recruits? With Samba leaving and Gasperini coming, 11 out of our 12 players have a New England connection. The only outlier is Kolton. 7 are from MA, CT or RI and the other 4 played prep ball in New England. If DeGray commits tomorrow, that's 12 out of 13.

Speaking of DeGray, I believe he is down to UMass and Charlotte yeah?

DeGray is from Colorado, but did he ever play high school ball there?

I don’t think they were discussions or arguments so much as a couple of posters seeming to have an alarm clock set to every couple of months post something bemoaning the lack of local kids on the roster.

But yeah it will be refreshing not to have that. Of course they will probably just find something else. Like the lack of vegans on the roster or how none of our guards were born in a leap year.

I think he played HS ball at Chaparral in Colorado, then went to Woodstock for his senior year and a post grad year. In those 2 years he played with Tre, TJ, Preston, Dominguez, Fernandes and McCrory. Walker played at Woodstock but it may have been the year before DeGray got there.

Preston might not be the clear second best in A-10 play, but his stats were clearly the second best (see "conference advanced" stats here https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/sc ... /2020.html.
What am I even reading there? Is that saying that Baptiste was our 6th best player last season?

And per 100 possessions, Higginbottom is #2. Very advanced stuff - never looked at it that way.
There's a lot of information in there, if you hover over the headings it gives you an explanation of what each column means.

Stats only give you a partial picture, context and circumstance is important. I think the per 100 possessions is sorted by pts per 100, and Higginbottom rates highly because of a really small sample size in which the 5 total minutes he played in conference he made the only shot he took, at 3pter.

I think Santos was the 2nd best player in conference, but if I understand you correctly your issue is really just that a coach shouldn't be saying something like player x is better than another player, and it doesn't matter if it's accurate or not? I'm not sure I agree with your assessment, but I understand where you're coming from.

WHAT??? None of our guards was born in a leap year? Outrageous! How can you expect to win if that is the case? :)

DeGray will announce his choice tomorrow. 247 has him coming here!

One other kid DeGray sounds a bit like is a little bigger Kevin Easley, that kid we were looking at a couple of years ago that had a good freshman year at UTC and transferred to TCU. I don’t believe there is a CTU or or UCT but if there is Easley will find them...

Anyone know that Ronnie DeGray's dad played in Europe? Nice story here:

It appears that you underestimated Davonte:
