SC and the SEC it is. Oh well. I know he visited after Thomas committed, but I wondered if he would come with a Thomas onboard.

Not heartbroken (hard to be over a kid you’ve never seen play) but hopefully a good season this year will allow us to win recruiting battles against P5 schools.

Wondering if the list is (in no order) Buggs, Santos, and Krystowiak — no idea how much room we will have.

Hey just to be among the top three is impressive. Especially when one of those is a coach/program that went to the Final Four two years ago. It's unfortunate that we couldn't land him, but it speaks volumes to the effort the UMass coaching staff is doing in recruiting and development as well as the talent available in our backyard. :D

^ I was able to watch a couple of complete games this summer of Leveque's AAU team Mass Rivals. Leveque didn't get a ton of playing time, instead the coach opted to frequently play smaller lineups with no real big man. From what I did see of him, I was not particularly impressed. Leveque is a pretty big kid, and from what I've read recruiting pundits are mostly optimistic about him based on potential, rather than current ability.

I haven't seen Jalen Thomas play beyond some highlights, but based on the admittedly little I have seen, read, and been told, I prefer him to Leveque.

No surprise - that is a solid final 3 to be a part of though. Seems like we've lost a solid amount of guys to South Carolina in the last couple of years.

^ Depending on what you consider losing a recruit, I count losing 3 players to each of South Carolina and Wichita State since McCall has taken over at UMass.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you might find.... you get what you need. If a kid's head is in a P5 frame of mind, that's probably where he needs to be if they offer. I do not see that as "losing a kid." You pitch the school and the style of play, and let them decide.

Once a big target for Matt McCall before he blew up on the recruiting trail, Joe Girard stays local and commits to Syracuse.

Hoping we snag this one.. I believe Buffalo & St Bona were also really high on him... if Oats & Schmidt & McCall all believe in his talents he will be a steal

No matter who you are, you're going to lose some kids to other schools along the way, it's just part of the process. Not a big deal, nothing to worry about. I think it's an encouraging sign that we've lost several kids to a couple of programs/coaches who typically place a premium on toughness in their recruits.

Don't forget, we're recruiting without an available scholarship to offer.
