I suspect this is where Luwane ends up for his last year.

Always get a chuckle from his posts -- 5-guard lineups rule!
there will be plenty of minutes when Clergeot, Pipkins, Pierre, and Cobb are on the floor at the same time and I would not be surprised if at times we see 5 guards.

Let's hope not! But, you may be right.

In the near future Power 5 teams may in a sense look to mid majors as farm teams who develop players for 2, 3 seasons only to loose then to Power 5 conference teams. For example, it'd give an A10 player who red shirted a year a chance to play in a power 5 league. Better competition. Might improve their chances of playing pro ball.

I believe that Luwane is fully committed to UMass and making a long term name for himself here. I don't see him leaving.

^This, plus a whole bunch. He doesn't need Illinois. Champaign is to Chicago as Amherst is to Boston.

With absolutely no inside information and not knowing anything about Pip and his situation, I only have two real thoughts:

I would imagine that if the team has a very good season, it would go a long way in helping to keep Pip around for his final year.

I would also think that a lot of P5's will be sniffing around Pip regardless of what kind of season UMass has.

Kind of surprising that there is no news from the Zdor camp. I guess the good news is that he didn't commit to Ill. right away.

In other news, here's another potential grad transfer. If we can't land anyone better, i might take a chance on him after getting medical info.

I suppose... if the last scholarship would otherwise be unused.

^ That's why I said "after getting medical info". I don't know the severity of the tear or how his recovery is progressing. He's only in play if he can be fully recovered by October, if that's possible with an ACL tear.

Not sure what class they are, but I noticed that Peter Gash has started following Abella Danger and Alexis Andrews on Twitter. I believe they are 5 star recruits according to AVN.

Not sure it's a great look for an assistant coach to be following porn stars, but hey, it's 2018, man!

Abella Danger = first experience ever of google telling me "your search did not match any documents."

Not UMass related, but a 5-Star center named Charles Bassey just committed to Western Kentucky. 2018 class (originally 2019).

Stansbury is showing what can be done at a mid major, and I think our staff can be as successful. (I still dislike referring to our hoops program as mid major, but I believe further resistance is futile, a least for now.)
