I am extremely excited and cant wait.. This work week is going to DRAGGGGGG on thinking about the first game. I think we will be better than most people think. I think either Berger or Coleman is going to really impress against Howard and score 15+

I'll be there +3. Any guesses on attendance? 3,000-3,500 is what I'm expecting, hoping for a lot more.

My wish list for this....

1. A WIN
2. Some kind of multiple movement offense, meaning that there is more than one set of screens or cuts at one time -- Some kind / any kind of NOT forcing up last a second shot (as an offense)
3. A meaningful press that presents something that is more than an annoyance to the other team
4. I want to see Coleman play some basketball - I think if he can actually be healthy and in game shape, he will be the biggest surprise to us all.
5. Convert a (as in just one) basket off of a time out
6. Some bench coaching of bench players - When a kid comes off the floor - I would love to see the HC or any of the assistants talking to the players about what happened on the court

But Seriously - there is obviously some hyperbole above..... I am not expecting to see Duke out there, but I would love to just see some semblance of organized offensive basketball. Things will (and should) break down at times, but if they just keep running a (too) high screen and crank up 23 footers all night I will be truly disgusted (win or lose).

I think DK said they were going to dial back the full court press this year for a variety of reasons so we may not see a lot of it.

Probably due to the lack of healthy bodies. Right now we have 8. I'm calling TBerg and Holloway not healthy enough to be part of a pressing defense. IF, an it's a big IF, LP is cleared and TBerg and Holloway get in shape we can go back to the press.

The other factor is that right now we only have 4 guards and we can't wear them down, especially when we're probably starting 3 of them.

Of all that list, the one I'd most like to see is the bench coaching. I just cannot believe its absence. He's the only coach we see all season who doesn't coach up the players at least some times. It's embarrassing. I mean, seriously, the could assign each player their own coach with that staff.

Howard was picked to finish 5th in the 13-member MEAC this season. James Daniel (5'10" Guard) made the league's First Team.
http://www.meacsports.com/ViewArticle.d ... M_ID=20800

Last year, they were 16-16 overall, 10-6 in conference. They dropped their first game in their conf tournament to end their season. They played 3 A-10 games early in the season, all as the away team, and all losses: 81-63 at Duq, 54-41 at Richmond, 74-59 at Fordham.

This year, they return 4 starters. Daniel led the team in scoring last year, at 16.1 ppg. He was 2nd on the team in shots, but only hit 34% overall. Loves the 3 ball, just under half his shots were from long range, but hit only 29%. Led the team in getting to the line.

They lost their 2nd highest scorer, James Carlton, to graduation. Carlton was also their leading rebounder, by far.

James Miller (6'4" G/F) was the #3 scorer at 11.5 ppg. Scoring really trailed off after that. Next highest guy was just 4.2 ppg.

My wish is to see somebody besides Clark become a consistent scorer. If I'm Howard, I put my best defender on Clark and dare Trey, etc. to beat me.

I could see Jabarie having a good game. And year for that matter. And I think Malik will be an all rookie team member by years end.

Jabarie is surprisingly under the radar on here. Kid can play. Given our schedule, he'll be the most talented player on the floor in many games, and one of the fastest. He'll be a big part of this team exceeding most expectations on here.

^ No doubt in my mind, he could have a good year. The rule changes should help him a lot.

Love this list! DK mentioned they've added more screening to the offense on the radio show tonight, so I'm excited to see what that looks like. 5 and 6 would be great to see, nothing drives me crazier than guys coming out of the guy and not being coached at all....ever. Is it Saturday yet?!?!

So even if Space is not available, I am assuming we still win this game. The UMass hoops roller coaster ride continues. Hope Space is back soon, mainly so they have enough healthy bodies.
