Game 3, 2014-15: Manhattan

Post by MikeUMA » Thu Jul 03, 2014 8:32 am

We'll host Manhattan on 11/18, in what looks like it'll be game #3 on the season. Jon Rothstein at CBS Sports has been with Manhattan this week.

Things he tweeted over the last couple days:

Manhattan has no alpha dog, but Jaspers could have 3-5 people avg in dbl figures. Built more like Iona the past few years. Multiple options.

Rich Williams has completely changed his body. Looks like a BCS level 2 guard. Should be an All-MAAC caliber player. Considerably stronger.

Early prediction on Manhattan's 14-15 starting five --- Rashawn Stores, Shane Richards, Rich Williams, Emmy Andujar, Ashton Pankey....

Expect Emmy Andujar to play point forward 4 Manhattan for stretches this yr. Should be Jaspers' primary facilatator 4 10-15 mins each game.

How many games will Manhattan win before MAAC play? Jaspers are at UMass, FSU, Pitt + G Mason. Host Harvard. Neutral vs Fordham + Rutgers.

The sleeper in Manhattan's freshman class is Calvin Crawford. 6-9 forward is incredibly skilled and can score inside and out. Talented.

Q&A: Manhattan coach Steve Masiello

^ This kid was a real stud in high school. He will indeed make this a tougher game.

I hope when you guys say "a lot tougher" you mean, maybe, just a little bit tougher. 2.8 PPG and 2.9 RPG are not all that scary as numbers.

I'll let the game answer this. If our guys can't keep him in check, we are in deep trouble. If he goes for 15/10 and UMass loses, then the game will sure be "a lot tougher."

If the Ticketmaster map of available tickets is any indication this game has sold pretty well so far.

Not able to make this one. If anyone is looking for face value tickets, shoot me a message and I'll put them in the mail.

ESPN says Sean McDonough and Tim Welsh will be on the call for #UMass' Tip-Off Marathon matchup with Manhattan Tuesday morning.

It's times like THESE when I'm glad I'm job hunting and won't be stealing company money with ESPN on my browser in the background while "doing work in the office"!!!

I fear a slow start. Hopefully the staff can get them playing right out of the gate.

Hopefully coming off one of the slowest starts of all time will have these guys mentally prepared to take it to Manhattan early.
