Anyone know if there are plans to hang the A-10 Final Four banners in the rafters of Mullins? Or, are they already up?
It's not as out of the realm of possibility as it sounds, considering there's a Hockey Banner for Hockey East Semi Final and Final appearances. :(

Pastner took over a solid program, but he did not take over a Final Four powerhouse. Memphis was in the Sweet 16 the previous season. They went to ONE Final Four under Coach Cal. By my calculations, he went 5-6 against ranked teams this year and is now 5-18.

In comparison:

"Derek Kellogg is 3-10 against Top 25 teams (wins over No. 25 Kansas in Kansas City on 12/25/09, No. 21 Temple in Atlantic City on 3/9/12
and No. 19/20 New Mexico in Charleston, S.C. earlier this season)."

Pastner's Head Coaching Record
Season Team Overall Conference Standing Postseason
Memphis Tigers (Conference USA) (2009–2013)
2009–2010 Memphis 24–10 13–3 2nd NIT Second Round
2010–2011 Memphis 25–10 10–6 4th NCAA Second Round
2011–2012 Memphis 26–9 13–3 1st NCAA Second Round
2012–2013 Memphis 31–5 16–0 1st NCAA Third Round

Call Memphis and ask if they'd swap out Pastner for DK.

Thanks. I don't know about hockey. I was simply asking the question.

Not to stir the pot, but DK mentioned as a potential target for the USF spot:

"USF will renew its coaching search with University of Florida assistant John Pelphrey, Massachusetts coach Derek Kellogg, Louisiana Tech coach Mike White and Southern Miss coach Donnie Tyndall expected to be on the list of potential targets."

An example of MassGrad's sense of irony. He hasn't lost his grip. He's probably chortling with "gotcha."

Not anymore they're not. They have recinded the offer because they found out that he never actually graduated from KY.

Oh dear god. My DEEPEST apologies for using the term "final four" to help explain that we were in the semi-finals of the A-10 tournament twice under DK thus far. Wow.

Amaker is staying at harvard, smart choice. Who now becomes BC's top target?

Schmidt is a good coach, an alum, would LOVE to get out of Olean and would do a good job at The Heights, imo.

Schmidt would absolutely be a terrific hire for them, but I don't think they'll pull the trigger. On paper, he's just what they don't want--a dude who appears similar in pedigree to what Donahue was when he came from Cornell. Not a proven recruiter, not a great overall record. Of course, this is bogus. Schmidt doesn't have a great record and isn't seen as a great recruiter because he's forced to recruit guys to the most shit hole middle of nowhere outpost in all of D1 hoops. He's WAY WAY WAY overachieved given the resources/situation, but hiring coaches is as much about winning the press conference as it is about winning games and I suspect BC is hyper aware of this given the failures of Donahue.

If DK ever leaves, I'd love to make a run at Schmidt. Guy gets so much out the little talent he does have and players appear to love playing for him.

^Well said Marty. Love the way Schmidt coaches.
Hire Matt McCall!
