How did they play against us that made you think Miller wasn't a good coach? I don't remember the particulars of the game.

Random: Was Bryce Alford going go to New Mexico before his dad left for UCLA? Or was he always scheduled to play for the Bruins?

Can someone post what the win shares for each conference team are again with every round?

I believe he was planning to go to UNM before his dad left for UCLA.. I didn't look into it too deeply but ESPN has UNM and UCLA as his only offers and a note that he will "follow his dad to UCLA for the [2013/14] season.

Go dayton! Good thing they went 6 deep for the tournament or the A-10 would be out now. Shows how important it is to peak at the end of the year.

Each conference earns ~$255K for each game they appear in for the tournament, which is payable annually across a 6 year period. So each teams making the dance plus each win = $255K X 6 years = $1.5M for the A-10.

Thus far, the A-10 had 6 teams make the dance (UMass, GW, St. Louis, St. Joe's, Dayton, VCU). 6 units.

St. Louis and Dayton advanced to Round of 32. 2 units.

Dayton advanced to Sweet 16. 1 unit.

Dayton advances to Elite 8. 1 unit.

6 units + 2 units + 1 unit + 1 unit = 10 units at least (more if Dayton keeps winning, but no units given for the Championship game). There are some other rules about teams that switch conferences that have to leave any earned units with the conference they left, so we still get Butler from last year, Xavier from prior years.

This equates to roughly $15 million over the next 6 years to the A10 ($2.5 million /year).

In 2012-2013, the A-10 earned $8.1 million from the NCAA Basketball Fund, up from $7M the prior year.

Some rough figures, for 2014, the A10 gets the historical units going back 6 years, (2008-2013). According to : http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files ... mation.pdf:

2008: 6
2009: 6
2010: 5
2011: 6
2012: 7
2013: 12 units (thanks to LaSalle's First Four In win and deep run)

42 units payout X $250K = $10.5M

Assuming that Dayton loses vs. Florida,

2014: 10 units

46 units payout X $250K = $11.5M

The A10, with 13 current teams (14 with Davidson joining next year), would mean $10.5M / 13 = $807K per team. Next year would be $821K per team. This all assumes the A10 distributes the NCAA Basketball fund evenly amongst all conference teams.

Basically if Dayton goes to the Champsionship game, each A10 team stands to earn about $38K more than they have today.

Can you say Go Dayton Flyers?

EBox, that's great analysis. Thanks for doing that. Even if we get half of the projected $807K, that's a nice haul!

Credit to UConn but this was really lined up for them. Villanova was overrated all year in my opinion as was the Big East. They then face Iowa State without arguably their best player in MSG which might as well be Gampel Pavilion. They'll finally get what's coming to them when they face Virginia or Michigan State.

And yes these grapes I'm eating are sour.
