The criticisms of Pip seem fair enough. Trying to make it look like your free speech is being infringed upon by politically correct Pioneer Valley residents just doesn't fit here.eldonabe wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:12 amWorcester_To_Amherst wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 9:59 amGotta say, not really sure what you're talking about. Looking back at all the comments from this month in this thread, no one has even come close to saying Pip can't/shouldn't be criticized. Someone made a comment saying his numbers weren't as terrible over the past few games as they were earlier in the season. A few others talked about him getting a degree.eldonabe wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 8:26 am
Because it is the greater Northampton/Amherst area. It would not be politically correct for you to have (and actually express) a negative opinion about a person.
Within a virtual minute of last season ending, Pip threw a malatov cocktail at the program. It was unnecessary and vindictive. That's fine, that is his prerogative to do that. IMO he also mailed it in last season - also his prerogative.
It is OK to have a negative opinion of him and you should not feel bad for doing so; nor should you allow anyone to shame you for that position - Pip earned it.
There are not enough Fucks for me not to give about Pip. He burned his bridge when he left. IMO he does not deserve the well wishes he gets from UMass basketball supporters. As a human being, I certainly do not wish bad things upon him - but that is about it.
Maybe I am being a little tribal about it, but I kind of compare what he did to someone disrespecting my sibling. I am not excusing that... and I will defend the fort.
I think the board does a pretty good job not bringing big picture stuff/politics into the conversation, and hopefully we can keep it that way.

His FG% and 3PT% are awful. Assists, steals not too bad. FT% gonna be in the record books.

This just in Pipkins missed the trash can with a rolled up piece of paper last night.
Oh wait that is a fake story - Pipkins never did homework, so there would never be a piece of paper to throw away.........

For anyone with Fucks to give.....
Pip had another fairly "blah" stat line Saturday vs Nova... 11 points on 7 free throws but no assists.... to go along with his bonehead shooting decision very late in the game that essentially sealed it for Nova. All this in 25 minutes. I don't know if PC has depth issues, but you have to wonder if Cooley is ever going to rein his minutes in.

If anyone thinks we're being hard on LP, just read comments from the Friar fans and you'll know what the word "harsh" means. They are fuming at his minutes.

Just an update by way of bigger context: since his 3 game mid-season renaissance, he has returned to form over the last 6 games, shooting 10-42 from the field (5-24 on 3’s) while dishing out 4 assists (!) against 9 turnovers. Providence is 2-4.

Pipkins lead all players in scoring today coming off the bench and Providence had a nice upset at #16 Butler.

The guy left because of a coaching change. I don’t blame him.

PC was 11-10 entering yesterday’s ballgame, squarely a mediocre major D1 ballclub. Cooley gets his team prepared to play ON THE ROAD at #16 Butler in a packed Hinkle Fieldhouse. PC plays tough D all game and pulls out a hard fought 65-61 win.....a great road W.inthescoop wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 9:29 pm Pipkins lead all players in scoring today coming off the bench and Providence had a nice upset at #16 Butler.
UMass goes ON THE ROAD against a 10-10 Davidson, squarely a mediocre mid-major ball club. We come out with all the defensive fire of a wet noodle, watch Davidson shoot nearly 75% and get embarrassed by 35.
