Steve - He won't be going to an A-10 team. A-10 rules for transfer within the league:

No competition 2 years. No loss of season. Not eligible for athletic financial aid during the year of residency. (Meaning that he would still have two years to play, but he would do the normal sit-out year on scholarship plus one more on his own.)

fenway617 wrote: Mon Apr 23, 2018 1:58 pm I might be off on this but wasn't one of the knocks on him coming out of HS his inconsistent motor when playing? Some games he'd be unstoppable and others he'd just go though the motions and seem disinterested? If McCall saw any of that in practice/games I'm sure he got on him early and often.

Or maybe I'm thinking of a different player.
Nope you are correct that was definitely a concern on him. Wasn't meant as a jab at McCall as (to your point) it seems like others have had a tough time getting through to the kid as well. My point was that however McCall was motivating the rest of the team and seemed to get the most out of them, it wasn't translating to Baldwin. You could see the frustration on his face (and body) when he would be taken out of the game for making mistakes or playing poorly. The writing was definitely on the wall for this one.

Sorry to see Chris go. I’ve met him and spoken with him a few times. The last time was the night Camby was at the Bill, when he introduced us to his brother.

A good kid who I would have loved to have seen emerge as a star at UMass.

Good luck, Chris!

Just learned of CB leaving. When he signed I thought this was a good spot for him academically and athletically but with the change in coaching staff, it just didn't work out. Good luck to him, and good luck to our program using that scholly.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

No surprise here, it's what Baldwin does....takes the path of least resistance. Transferred twice in HS/prep, now transferring from UMass. Didn't see eye to eye with the coaches at any stop expect ND Prep. Thought Coach McCall finally got through to him after Dayton but I guess not.

^ Why is there always at least one asshole who decides to blast a player for transferring out? Not really fair to judge the kid without knowing him or his particular situation.

Did you ever consider the possibility that maybe the coaching staff asked him to leave?

My name calling was in jest. I only get my motor revved over important stuff like people saying we need more foreign players.

God forbid you criticize any of the players here...as far as I'm concerned, if you decide to transfer than you open yourself up to criticism. You made a commitment to the school and the program and then you bail on that commitment when you decide to transfer. And if Coach McCall did ask him to leave than that probably meant that he wasn't putting in the work that was required of him. I say good riddance! Use the scholarship on someone that wants to be here.

Baldwin only transferred once in HS. He went to Hillside Prep which only goes to 8th grade and then he went to Central. He then transferred to ND Prep.
