2020-21 Season
Re: 2020-21 Season
^ If you didn't know, Garcia and Walker played together in Ohio. There are just sooo many connections on the team. Here's a video of them but it doesn't indicate when or at what level of competition.

I thought I recognized a pair of UMass shorts in the video I posted. The chemistry on this team is going to be awesome. Fingers crossed we get the chance to watch them this year.69MG wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 3:24 pm ^ If you didn't know, Garcia and Walker played together in Ohio. Re: 2020-21 Season
I've been looking for game tape of Javohn Garcia. Found a championship game against New Hampton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9eX2Z2HOzk Also this game against Mt Zion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nX1rhy1rSQ
Both opponents were very good. I didn't see any reason to get excited about Garcia in these games. He came off the bench for 5-8 minutes in each half. He was nominally the PG (brought the ball up court after opponent's baskets) but didn't run the offense at all. Pretty much passed the ball after getting across half-court and then just stood around. He took very few shots and mostly ignored rebounds. His defense was fine and but he didn't make any steals. In the second half against New Hampton he seemed to wake up and get more involved in the game, had a nice coast-to-coast lay-up. That was the only basket I saw him make in the two games. The New Hampton tape is missing a few segments.

Re: 2020-21 Season
I watched all of Amin's breakdowns, and enjoyed them. That said, I think Amin tended to over-rate the players. For example, if you watch game tape of Dyondre Dominguez (not highlights) you'll see that he pretty much just floats around the perimeter and takes 3's. He's not a complete player. I really expected to see a lot more from Garcia based on Amin's report, but the game tape that I've seen doesn't substantiate. I'd like to see more tape if anyone has links to other games or the compete New Hampton game.TheInsider wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 9:55 am https://dailycollegian.com/2020/03/fres ... hn-garcia/

This YouTube page has 2 full Brewster games. I haven't had time to watch them. If anybody is able to watch them maybe we can get a report on how Garcia looked (if he get any serious minutes).Zach Fleer

Re: 2020-21 Season
He averaged 10.6 points per game 4 rebounds 3 assists. Those are really good number for a guy who wasn’t the main guy on a stacked Brewster teamuz2b-len wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 4:32 pmI watched all of Amin's breakdowns, and enjoyed them. Re: 2020-21 Season
I agree on DD. He is very raw still and I don't think he has a high ceiling. But he has length and can shoot and has the ability to block some shots. It will be interesting to see if his game evolves and if he can handle defending in the A10. I don't think we see him get a lot of minutes.uz2b-len wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 4:32 pmI watched all of Amin's breakdowns, and enjoyed them. That said, I think Amin tended to over-rate the players. Kolton Mitchell's development will be critical to our success next year as he will be needed to backup and possibly start at point. Will he improve offensively?

Re: 2020-21 Season
Using 69's search link I got to watch one more full Brewster game (at St. Thomas More). The two full games and the one mostly complete game show that Garcia gets to play about 5 minutes in each half. He was much more active in the St. Thomas More game than the other two. Showed some good stuff, although still not acting much like a PG. He made some of those strong moves to the hoop we've heard so much about and defended well. I really don't get it. His play against St Thomas More was much different from the passive and uninvolved play I saw against Mt Zion and New Hampton. I wonder if the limited minutes have dampened his enthusiasm.

Re: 2020-21 Season
The amount of time Garcia is on the court in those three games is so limited that if someone knew how to edit it together, there would be about 25 minutes of game time. Could watch it all in, I dunno, maybe 40 minutes. Or less if you want to use the 1.5 YouTube speed setting.

Re: 2020-21 Season
Food for thought. Who starts, who are the key reserves and who is at the end of the bench? I know I've been tempted to try to figure this out. Love to hear comments about this guy's take on the season. My main hope is that there is a season.
