Re: Venue change
What did everyone think of the hype man oh i mean pa guy? For my taste it was too over the top, and I thought it was stupid in the second half to get that excited about a UMass first down. But it made more sense in the first half when things were actually exciting. Personally I'm more pleased that ...

Re: GT VS FSU
Funny to see this here, I thought I was on the wrong board for a second. On Saturday, I actually offered Bamford a Chili Dog, Peach Pie and Varsity Orange from the Varsity if he got us into a good conference. He thought that was funny, and he knew I must have a GT connection. Given how enthusi...

Re: Game 7: Toledo (Band Day Gillette)
I agree. I think just about everything should be on the table in terms of changes, but DC and getting an OC should be at the top of the list.econalum wrote:Coach needs an OC, period, but not him in both roles. He needs to be the general manager, with special emphasis on team game planning and recruiting.

Re: Game 7: Toledo (Band Day Gillette)
So that was a bummer today. Then to cap it off we got rear ended by a taxi in Somerville on our way to spend the night with our friend. Luckily we're OK, no injuries. The car has seen better days but it's drivable and we'll be on our way back to NJ tomorrow. Glad you're OK. It was great talking wit...

Re: Game 7: Toledo (Band Day Gillette)
Shocking to say it, but that could have been worse. We might not have had that first half, and this could have been just a flat out blow out. I do think the team tried, but in the end a combination of lesser talent, lack of adjustments or poor adjustments on both sides of the ball, and penalties (as...

Re: Game 7: Toledo (Band Day Gillette)
^ I think losing that Temple game the way they did really messed up their heads. Combine that with the fact that last year our opponents really didn't know what to expect from us in terms of play calling, formations, etc etc. Our opponents are more prepared this year and we haven't made the correct...

Re: Game 7: Toledo (Band Day Gillette)
I just want to see some fight, some tenacity. I have no expectation of them winning this game, but I'm sick of getting blown out, and they should be too. They have to learn how to fight for it, and if they don't want to get pushed around by a better team, then push back. They did that last year. Wha...

Re: UMass vs. Temple 2015
Now 7-0 after beating ECU tonight. Ugh. Other than Penn State, who really aren't that good this year, Temple hasn't really played anyone that great. I'm not saying they're a bad team, but I don't, and have never bought a top 25 ranking for Temple. They looked woefully mediocre against us, and I don...

Re: Game 6 - Kent State - Homecoming
But again, what's the option? Stay with FCS and go down with that ship? Personally, I'd rather go out swinging to try and make this work than see UMass drop to Division II or drop football. No question, it's ugly as hell right now, and I'm utterly disgusted with yesterday's performance. But the pot...

Re: Game 6 - Kent State - Homecoming
Going 6-36 certainly doesn't help, but does anyone think we would be seeing regular sell outs (which is only 2k above the division requirement!) at McGuirk or more than 35k at Gillette if the team was "bowl eligible" every few years? The fact is, at this point, no one knows. It seems dubi...

Re: Game 6 - Kent State - Homecoming
Going FBS may turn out to be one of the biggest bonehead decisions in the history of the school.....but only time will tell. I'm as disgusted and disappointed with yesterday's performance as most here, but I still don't question the decision to move up. We knew going in we were going to take our kn...

Re: Game 6 - Kent State - Homecoming
Sooooooooooooooo, is anyone actually excited about getting out there this weekend? Thread's kinda dead. :D I'm definitely looking forward to going. I have no idea what to expect from the game. I'd love to think this is a "gimme" win for UMass, But I'm not sure there are any gimme wins for...

Re: Game 5: Bowling Green
I was at the gym this morning and I briefly saw some guy on ESPN give UMass a "bear" (which is a good thing). I'm not sure he picked us to win, but he definitely said he thought we'd keep it close. He thought BGU's defense was the weakest we've faced to date. I think it will take the best ...

Re: Game 4: FIU
Hoping one day whoever runs this in the AD's office goes, "Hmmmmm, what does USC, Michigan, Ohio State do with their bands? Maybe we should do that." Ironic because until George got here around 1978, the UMass band was modeled directly on Michigan's band. When I went to the last UMass-Mic...

Re: Venue change
As others have kind of said, I think the canned music is more out of necessity than trying to out do the band. We have a good band, not great. Not sure if it's due to the size of the band or what, but the in-game playing is not the best. Until our band can get people "riled up" for a 3rd ...
