Re: State of the Progam

^ What makes you believe football "can't" work in New England? What makes New England unique from every other region in the country (including other regions in the North and Northeast)? I'll remind everyone that in 2007 UMass was ranked in the Top 10 FCS every week. BC, UCONN, and Rutgers ...

Re: State of the Progam

The discussion on UMASS applicants and commits, vis a vis FBS, is inane. The common app, and its acceptance as the form for admissions at 99%+ of colleges is the lead here, by far. The yield rate is so low at Ivies as in, 'why not apply to Yale?', it has been driven artificially low at the most sel...

Re: State of the Progam

UMass has had a horrendous transition period, but to say moving up to FBS was a mistake is stupid. We had a lot of success at the 1AA level, but who cares about 1AA. FCS is a losing propostion: we get many times the payout by playing P5 schools than we were getting being 1AA. Rutgers is paying us a...

Re: Head coaching options

Generally I'd prefer an FCS head coach, but any thoughts on Miami's DC Manny Diaz?

Re: State of the Progam

Upgrading to 1A was always a bad idea and there is no miracle worker in the form of a better head coach or athletic director who can turn that around. But at least we can always have IV questioning alumni loyalty. And there is that professor everyone loves to hate. The drubbings and shitty attendan...

Re: Massachusetts Athletics Branding

Alright, is it me or does RPI use the same font as UMass? Lemme guess, they used Phoenix Design Works in the early 2000s too? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DpbYMhpWsAA_ff-.jpg:large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DpbYWhJXUAAFF_e.jpg:large IMO the 2000s UMass logo and the Power U look more dated and amate...

Re: 2018-2019 Schedule and beyond

^Now if they can start bringing in 2/3 marquee games a year. This I'maStateUsomeplace home schedule is not good for ticket sales. Also hope coach will start playing USF/UCF regularly. Why? We blow them out in basketball in exchange for blowing us out in football? Or to get chummy and plead for AAC ...

Re: 2019 Recruiting

Hey just to be among the top three is impressive. Especially when one of those is a coach/program that went to the Final Four two years ago. It's unfortunate that we couldn't land him, but it speaks volumes to the effort the UMass coaching staff is doing in recruiting and development as well as the ...

Re: Game 7: USF

^ I think the disagreement is what the plan was, not what happened. We're always complaining about the state of McGuirk. But it's my understanding that when the renovations were proposed/approved there was not an intent of playing there full-time (or even anywhere close to full-time). I think if we ...

Re: Game 7: USF

I think the plan was we'd need Gillette for every game except weeknight MACtion. And then it turned out our attendance was so low that it just made sense to play at McGuirk basically full-time. The plan was they needed Gillette because McG's pressbox was not FBS level and they were building ...

Re: Game 7: USF

They were surprised at how small the stadium is, 'more like high school size' said one from Fla, more surprised than belligerent. It'd be pretty big by high school standards. If needed McGuirk can be temporarily expanded to the low 20s with bleachers, so that'd be at least in something like the Top...
