Re: Game # 7 Louisiana Tech

Yes. We have been in catch-up mode since day one. The question is, when will we ever catch up? It was never going to be this season. The schedule is ridiculous because we had to throw it together from whatever was available after the short notice we were going independent. We graduated our QB and a...

Re: Game # 7 Louisiana Tech

We used up all our defenders in the early part of the season by leaving them out on the field the entire game. They've already played a full season of wear and tear. Even the guys who aren't injured, are injured. They're just playing anyway.

Re: Game # 7 Louisiana Tech

Oh, right, it's the third quarter. This is all normal.
The officials don't know about any penalties except holding.

Re: Game # 7 Louisiana Tech

8 point game if we have a kicker. We haven't had a kicker since 2009.

EDIT: Now it's a 7 point game because we have kids on this team who don't give up.

Re: Game # 7 Louisiana Tech

Our prevent defense is terrible. There was no chance LaTech wasn't at least getting into field goal range after getting the ball back with a minute and 3 TOs. We might as well play our regular defense.

Re: Game # 7 Louisiana Tech

There was a plan. It was a bad plan made with good intentions. We were guilty of some arrogance after years of strong performances against FBS opponents led us to believe that we were better than we were. Fans like myself included.

Re: Game # 7 Louisiana Tech

OK this is a bit off topic, and I'm not a big poster here especially for football, but I had to ask about this... why is it that we need so much time? I was looking at a BUNCH of other schools who all joined FBS AFTER us (like several years) and ALL have had more success. Like ODU, Georgia Southern...

Re: Game # 7 Louisiana Tech

I'm hopeful that this opponent might re-focus Whip away from his erratic playcalling habits. We're not going to keep Louisiana Tech out of the endzone. They're averaging 40 points per game. This means we will need a full game offensive gameplan to keep up. There's no one big gamble Whip can take tha...

Re: Game 5 (2016): Tulane

There are no changes left to make on defense that would matter. They needed to be kept off the field as much as possible, and Whip hung them out to dry.

Re: Game 5 (2016): Tulane

Whip is in one of his impatient moods and making things worse with his choices. I am really disappointed with the coaching in this one.

Re: Game 5 (2016): Tulane

Glad to take the lead into the half, but I think we can all see the late game defensive letdown coming. They've been on the field the entire game. Maybe we caught a break if Tulane's better passing QB can't throw at 100%. The other guy is a better runner though. I'd like to see a little more mix of ...

Re: Game 5 (2016): Tulane

Playing these types of offenses also inherently leads to injuries. Lots of crack backs and blindside blocks. I predicted a low scoring game, but we're going to need a high scoring game to win. We don't look prepared to defend this offense, and losing 2 of our best defenders is only going to make it ...

Re: Game 5 (2016): Tulane

This is a tough one to predict. Tulane really wants to run the ball, and our defense has been good at controlling traditional running games, but this is not a traditional one. We've been particularly bad at handling QB runs. Tulane does a fair bit of running with its QBs, but more so with its 2nd QB...

Re: Game 4 (2016): Mississippi State

Valiant effort. The defense was about as expected. They fought and scrapped, but this was an especially bad matchup for them in personnel and style, and a late game let down was almost a foregone conclusion. The offense was a mix of great and terrible, and frankly that's a huge improvement over just...
